Default cheap track toy

my brother has just got hold of a saxo vts very cheaply and has offered it to me for pea nuts.

would this be a decent little track toy if stripped out?

obviously its not a massive spec but would it make a good budget track car?

with a few tweeks im sure the handling would make up for the lack of power

Yes mines a track car. Fully stripped out, 2 OMP buckets, decat and cams, spax springs and 1144 pads on front. Really needs new suspension as the front dampers are very ineffective!

On track at FordFair where the only car quicker from what I know in my session (a load of fiesta zetec s') was my best mates FRPd zs. Much more experience driver then I though and much better suspension and brakes on his car.

its done 78k. 3months MOT and 1month TAX.

how strong are the gear box's and standard internals?
will they take the abuse from track sessions?
