I guess it depends if you mean steam cleaning or pressure washing. I'd be careful of the washing!

just dont concentrate the water on the engine, or at least not for too long, keep it to the chassis legs etc and should be fine...I've done it to a few car and not had a prob, left it running too.

It shouldnt be a problem. Just use comman sense and try and stay clear of electrics, air fliter, fuse box etc.

be fine mate.make sure you cover up any sort electrics.all the detailers give the engine bays a wash.how is the focus anyway to drive mate?

shud be fine mate...i do mine once a month or so...just steer clear of the electronics/coils etc and dont overflow the plug recess bit lol

Focus is mint just got a new turbo on it tubular manifold because they stupid for hose clips one wasnt on properly & it blew coolant all over the bay i want to give it a good clean even the rocker cover recesses could do with a clean i will be carefull we used to wash the bmw wngine bays no probs was just wondering what it would be like on the focus

I thought a steam cleaner was a hot pressure washer? Good for de-greasing.

If its a hot pressure washer does fucking steam come out? Or is it hot water?

Fucks me off when people call pressure washers steam cleaners

chop you need to take some valium if that fucks you offcarlo id cover what electrics i could with poly bags.gunk the engine bay as its a good degreaser then pressure wash but dont be too direct with the lance.

I pressure wash mine all the time, just try to keep it away from the rocker cover as the spark plug holes fill up with water really easy.

Then spray the whole engine bay with AG Rubber & Vinyl Care and it will come up a treat.

I also normally do it with the engine runnning.

Nice black crackle finish there, I used to do mine regular with engine running, never missed a beat.

Best to cover your electrics up with cling-film. I've never done it myself, usually a spray bottle of diluted degreaser is enough for me. Perhaps thats a safer option if your not sure about doing it.
