Interesting post.....
I owned RS's for years (1 s2 RST, 2wd Saffy and then a b/t Esc Cos for 5yrs). I moved my Esc Cos on for an R33 GTR over 4 yrs ago and I don't regret it for one bit to be honest! Still like the Cossies, but I would never have another one.....
Each to their own I guess......

Put 90 quid in tank today for a return of 120 miles or so, its pathetic but it is expected from a turbo the size of a barn door and a six cylinder engine.

None of mine blew up, but always had fook on niggly probs with them. Water pump, Radiator, various hoses splitting etc. In 4yrs of 33GTR ownership - had 1 mis-fire problem which turned out to be a dodgy spark plug! lol

Fair enough mate, but the 1st RB26 R32 GTR was produced in 1989 so it ain't exactly new technology! I mean my 33 is only 2/3yrs younger than what my Esc Cos was and the difference in reliablity between the two has been huge!

20K+ Super Poster.
Must admit there is one skyline model I like, it got a stumpy back side window, don't know model.
They are nice and nice to drive, they just don't make you feel your driving it, rather you're just along for the ride.
Huge respect for them, just not for me.
My cars got nearly 170,000 on the bottom end now, doesn't break down ever, even after I first got it and the HG went(due to previous bad repair by ford dealer), I still managed to do 20 miles home, stopping every 5 miles to fill water as it was pissing out the broken HG.
As said each to their own.

Some strange comments on this thread, the type of car you drive is a personal thing a Skyline does nothing for me whatsoever if I went Jap it would be an EVO. However no Jap car have the Cosworth iconic status, never have never will. A cars performance is dictated by its state of tune a 700bhp Skyline makes a 450bhp Cossies seem slow, surely not . Power is relative a 700bhp Skiline would be way off the pace for me, cos im used to big Power, put me against Kieths skyline with 1200 horses & I would think mine had its brakes on.
By the way only the driver of a small Turboed car, thinks high powered cars are hampered by lag on the road, get behind me & i will show ya .

you have to admit though rod its far easier and cheaper to get the power your running from an rb26.
liners have status for me from when they handed the 500s there asses in 91 - 92 in australia and japan

Mines up to about 630 brake now (rwd) and I can put it all down in 1st and 2nd under control, no wheel spin, just ask Mr Shead, JB Fletch, Cossie Helen, Cossie Rich.... Cossies are capable of such feats if specced and set up correctly.

you can put 630 brake at the wheels down on the pavement without wheelspin in a cossie.
Thats funny because my GTR at 416BhP at wheels twitched and spun until the torque control kicked in in second.
And that was with 9.5 wide wheels.
What does that tell you about such good handling skylines LOL

all the guys that own skylines will say they are better, all the guys that own cossys will say they are better haha.
there both good cars. both have good and bad points. if u spend the same amount of money on both cars the skyline will be faster. i dont see many 1000bhp sierras that have done 30,000 miles.
but i like both.

my mates gtst went bang on southend seafront on 1 bar of boost,
Engines are engines mate.
ive owned both and on the whole i would rather own the cossie i think.
The skyline was an amazing car but not many people took much notice, i dont think its anywhere near iconic.

I now own a R32 GTR and fook me sideways what a machine it is, its basically track prepared full cage semi slicks all the braces etc and it has a t78 greddy turbo kit, currently around 550 bhp but will soon be at least 650, i love it it handles like nothing i have ever owned and the power is immense when it finally gets boost at 5k lol. Why oh why did i ever bother with cosworths?
I followed a brand new 09 plate skyline yesterday,,,,,,,,,,ummmm

i know its a supra and its rear wheel drive and its heavy,+ its how the car has been setup which can leave itself open to debate.
but generally at 7.25 minutes from standstill it looks useless to drive, not until 2nd gear and the higher rpms that it starts to make something of itself. however once on the move its undeniably quick as proved by the flybys... but as fast road car it would be useless in my opinion. then theres the debate of whats the point of a fast road car in this country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYzaGOkh6Sc

On with rebuild now, its probably a standard block so im gonna use wiseco pistons, port head etc and aim for 700 bhp.
