After several cossies...
I now own a R32 GTR and fook me sideways what a machine it is, its basically track prepared full cage semi slicks all the braces etc and it has a t78 greddy turbo kit, currently around 550 bhp but will soon be at least 650, i love it it handles like nothing i have ever owned and the power is immense when it finally gets boost at 5k lol. Why oh why did i ever bother with cosworths?

i tried my best to buy one a few months ago pete,it was a r32 godzilla in black and highly modified in japan and had just come over in the trade jap auctions. only thing was the bodywork wasn't up to my standards and had obvious repairs and rust but foook it sounded good. there was a drift/drag race skyline r33 godzilla with full cage and recaro race seats and harnesses and tbh all sort done inc a big wing and lairy azure blue paint job,as it was in the ring i opened the bonnet and revved it up and nearly took the roof off the place it was amazing and still running jap race fuel which smelled well horny lol.

My mate has an R32 and I think its shit. Too playstation. But hey its horses for courses and I bet is fun with that turbo hit. Where is it redlined? If it is as peaky as his with a narrow power band it is a terrible road car.

Big turbo big lag but they launch hard without breaking lol, the power is so linear even tho it comes in late it just pulls hard and strong as it revs then its on song again in the next gear, plus i can get 700 bhp on my spec without too much stress

you made the point a t34 escos would launch away from a big turbo skyline and it wouldnt is the point im making.
tweenies car is used on track too i believe, we spoke about it last month and he said they do random track days if i want to go along.

ok then, theres a t78 powered skyline and a t34 powered escort, just out on a random drive cruising around at 60, a scooby goes by so they both put there foot down, the escos has boost ... now ! the skyline has boost ......... ..... now ! theres a big difference in lag between a t34 and t78 !
thats my only point, for general road driving i would hate that, something responsive would be miles better, imo ofcourse

cheers fella, i didnt like the look of any skylines til i saw an r32 and that was it i had to have it
havnt driven mine in anger yet its at tr racing with tweenie having trust sump, forged ,jun pump new crank etc hoping for 600 bhp on the 2860-5s.
its frustrating not having it to drive but i wanted to start with a new uk built engine and have some warranty so itl be worth it in the end. i hope

Hoping to get to york on sunday mate, i know what you mean about the engine as they dont come with any evidence, all i know is mine is strong as an ox and it will keep going till it breaks lol, im a mechanic and i will rebuild it for silly power some day in the future, i love the 32's there not pretty, they look menacing and hard if you know what i mean. My blower will push 700 with supporting mods i have a print out for 536 on a hot day with a restrictive air filter, new filter on now and last night it was chilly, made my old 450 bhp saff feel like a rs turbo lol.

I agree with Jimbo about the driveability thing. I had a GT4 running a TD06, Ext. Wastegate, Screamer etc which was dyno'd at just over 400bhp... when it was on song, it was a mega car, but it look a few thousand rpm to get going. From a blast off a roundabout against a mate in a dyno'd 330bhp Classic Impreza STi running a smaller punchy turbo, I could do nothing about him punting off down the road until my turbo wound itself up, evened things out, then started to reel him in slowly.
Cheers,
Grant

fair play pete its looking horny, new wheels that match the bodywork and that turbo's massive, the bonnet don't look standard and i do like it when the car comes over ram jam packed with high end jap tuner stuff.
i certainly wouldn't mind a cabbie in it,first time i ever saw them was ozzie touring cars live on itv back in 1990 or 91.
got to like them and really like the look of them twin round tail lights.

very good cars, ive driven a 450bhp one. power delivery felt like a bmwer straight 6 with a turbo. the cossie was always my dream, my saph was problem after problem, hence i gave up, 2 years later i bought my 3 door,
my 3 door is the last proper car i will buy. I'm gonna move onto bikes next year, I've been building a mk1 capri cosworth for last 4 years.
im thinking of selling the 3 door, and moving away from cossies,,
my 3 door has been superb havent had to spend out on it and it never let me down once like the saoh did. But i need to get on with my capri and finish it.
I dont mind skylines mate just cant stand subarus !!

sorry mate yeah in that specific scenario escort would. all down to personal preference i guess. i like an engine to pull harder and harder right to the limiter, im on twin gt28s full boost was around 4k i just hope they keep puffing to 8k.
