They only know everything about you tho if you constantly post up everything about yourself and what your doing.
Also if you make it private people who dont know you cant see anything on your profile anyway.
They can be annoying sometimes but they are good to find old friends you lost contact with when left school or uni etc

Are you a nosey cunt who likes to know everyone elses business? Do you like to tell people when you've had a shit? Do you like to feel good at having so many "friends"?
If so then use both

It must rock having hundreds of Internet Friends, but do people realise that Internet Friends are on a 100:1 ratio with real friends? So, if you have 200 friends on Facebook, that is only the equivalent of 2 real-life friends.

I use facebook. only have 70 friends, that I KNOW, and have known for some long time.
Good way to keep in contact with mates who are far away, moved to a nuther country. i dont have photos, or messages on there, just leave it blank, and make it so if someone posts on my wall, they cant see it, only me.
but what i cant stand, is the people who update there status every second.
''Has just finished work and is going to lie on the sofa and watch E.R''
Like i give a shit.
''Im so tired and bored''
go to fucking bed then, or find something todo.
''some fucking bikers has run me off the road and made me crash into a grash verge''
Shame!"""

when you email, you have to wait to check if they have emailed back,
when you use instant message, you get a reply back, and can see if there online.
Phone, Sometimes, it costs alot to have a conversation when you can do it for free.
why dont you use MSN? because you haveto download the program, facebook, you dont.
why do you use a forums? to keep in touch with the news, new projects, other topics, ect.. just the same in view.

I agree. If people are worth keeping in touch with, then they are actually worth speaking to on the phone.
Only thing I use facebook for is to abuse all my sad mates who seem to enjoy telling the world how fucking miserable they are

Why not email or phone? I find email clunky and old fashioned, and I find the phone a bit rude and presumptious that it's ok to disturb someone at a time that suits you, unless you are expecting the call OR it's very close family/best mate.

I don't know anyone who uses Bebo. Think it's for chavvy underagers only.
Facebook is nicely laid out, and is a good tool for keeping tabs on people you know, or stumbling across old mates etc. Just because people have gone their seperate ways doesn't necessarily mean you don't still like the or vice versa!
Agreed, the way some people use it or live their life around it is very sad indeed, but it can be used to good effect.

What I don't get is people adding 'friends' they don't, or barely know.

If your not sure whether Facebook will have too many features, try Facebook Lite. Its a more slimmed down Facebook, you wont need to reregister as you can use your normal login details and use switch between regular FB and FB Lite.
I personally use Facebook, only because its a good way for me to speak to people who are also at work and are unable to text/phone. FB chat is a much easier way to speak to others in preference to e-mail as you dont have to wait for replies.
Try Facebook if you want, you can always deactivate your account if you dont get on with it!!

Yeah, it's even more geared towards posting status messages(why?), infact that's how you keep in touch with everyone. If you are following a celebrity you'll see what they're up to etc. I signed up to see what it was about, spent 10 minutes getting a feel for it and haven't been on since!
