I happen to prefer an RS1600i to all cossies.....its what makes me happy.
I can show you probably hundreds, probably thousands of people who are into their mk3/4's, fiestas, pumas, mondeos, focus' who dont give a toss about whether a cossie is better, they still prefer what they have to a saff etc.
Its not natural to assume that all rst ( or 'lesser' ford
) owners aspire to the cosworth models.
I can guarantee that they dont regardless of your own ( undocumented, unproved, and purely fatuous ) opinions

You have TOTALLY missed the point, yes I would sooner have my nova than a 20K escos project for the same budget (which would be pretty lame, I wouldnt have anything like the performance of my nova as id have done over half the budget just buying it and would need the other half for transmission before I even started on the engine) but I would prefer a 60K escos project to it, but i dont want to spend 60K on one project, so I stuck with my nova instead.

Thats part of the appeal of the RST though, its far easier to be a big fish in a smaller pond.
Christians RST is one of the best RST's anywhere, but the same spend on an escort cosworth would have it as pretty average.
20K (total guess at what something like christians would cost to build) gets you an amazing RST or a luke warm escort cosworth.

No point missed, perhaps you were a bad example, I know lots and Lots of folk who would rather continue with their car/project whatever the cashflow situation, and they arent all cossie owners.
