Default Bloody potholes !!!!

hit a mahooooosive pothole on saturday afternoon, has dmaged one of my superleggeras on my runabout fiesta, just called the council and they said what you have to do is replace the wheel then put a claim in with receipt etc,

problem is superleggeras arent made any more so what do i do now ? i dont want to spend £400 quid (which i havent really got) on a new set of ultraleggera wheels only for the council to fuck me off which i know is whats going to happen

so where do i go now lol

Get a quote for a new set of comparable wheels, then contact the council and check whether they'll honour the quote. If not, go legal.

I would imagine the council's response would be, "what are you doing while your wheels fucked?"

I'd tell them that the wheels are no longer available, and that these are the nearest option. See what they say!

As for what you're supposed to do... how about using your spare

expert help is here, if you carry on reading

first of all, make sure that you have spoken to someone in the correct department, some of the roadworks that cause potholes are delt with by the company who made the holes, so make sure that the person you are talking to is able to authorise the payments if there is any damage clamied for

secondly, put it in writing and send it recorded to the person who's name you've got in the phone call, include a SAE for a return letter just to be on the safe side and include pictures of the pothole, with something to show the size and depth for comparison

also make them aware of the damage the car has suffred as a reslut but don't get an independant report beacuse they may not honour the claim and you'll be out of pocket

i'e got some pictures somewhere, but i think they are on the other computer

once they have got these pictures they will tell you what they can do

i was very honest with my last claim when i hit a massive pothole

https://passionford.com/forum/genera...j-ftw-yay.html

if you can't be arsed to read it all then the basics were as follows:

hit a big pothole
called the council to say the suspensin was fucked
they said to talk to someone else
called them
they said to get 2 independant inspectinos carried out
done that, sent them the bills etc
they said they would pay for the work
i wa shonest and said that as one side was broken, but both sides need to be replaced so "as not not adversly affect the vehicle handling dynamics" and that i would pay for any additional parts that needed replacing but not the labour they were fine
job jobbed
happy dojj

it might take a while though if they are being akward, and it's also how new the tyres were etc as wll

right update, finally had a chance to get the car into the wheel and tyre place today to try and get the wheel repaired,

was told front and rear passenger side tyres are fucked due to sidewall "egging" and the back wheel which took most of the impact is unrepairable

so ive had to order a new set of ultraleggeras seeing as the super ones arent made any more but most importantly ive got a signed letter from the owner of the wheel place stating that the wheel is fucked and 2 tyres are fubared and that we tried to the most of ur abilitys to find just one superleggera but to no avail and that we are just fitting like for like and not trying to profit by putting better wheels and tyres on etc,

so kirklees council is very shortly going to be getting a claim for £782 lol

what do you guys think are my chances seeing as i know have a signed proof from the specialist stating it was dangerous etc ?

and dojji, never thought id say this due to you usual posts lol but thanks for the info

I wish you luck.

I got nothing from Fife Council for a smashed wheel, two fucked tyres and a suspension alignment check after one of their highly trained operatives left half a bag of concrete to set in the gutter.

That was despite someone else I know hitting the same thing and reporting it a couple of days before so they couldn't honestly say they didn't know about the hazard. Just told me it was a contractor, but wouldn't tell me who the contractor was.

Mine was a company car so i gave up at that point.

glad to have helped

just make sure that they will pay out before you fork out the money, they may want to send someone out to look at the damage from their side before they cough up

they will probably do you for wear and tear on the tyres etc to try and knock you down, but take them for at least 50%

i want at least 75% from them, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the wheels at all

Hate to say it Matt, but you have absolutely no chance of getting anything from the tight tory cunts who run the council

we will see, i will send the same letter every week until they pay up and will also contact all local newspapers and even go so far to take the matter to court,

the bloke at the tyre place said he has had 3 people now succesfully claim for a full set of wheels from kirklees council as unoficially its cheaper to pay out that to fix all of the potholes lol

Make sure you go and get a picture of the pothole, especially if you've told the council about it.
They tend to go and fill the hole very quickly when there's a claim involved.

yep i took pictures of the hole the very next morning before going to national day and had a tape measure to hand, also the missus who was in the car said she will provide a statement if needed plus the house owners where the pothole is next to,

and youre right the pothole was filled in 2 days later

I've currently got a claim going through as I hit a mahoooosive pot hole which was filled with rain water, it damaged 2 alloy wheels & both tyres were fooked.

They've written to me saying they've passed it on to their insurers.

you obviously didn't follow it up then

you have to first call them up to say that your vehicle has hit a pot hole and that you wish to speak to someone in regards to putting in a claim fro the councils insurance in regards to the damage and repairs that you vehicle requires

the ball starts rolling and then you find out who is responsible for the section of road that contains the pothole

and then you just write letters to the names invovled and carry on pestering them in an andy dusfrane sytlee

they soon cough up if you know what you are on about and seeing as mr slowpoke has taken pictures and got costs etc, the only thing he need do now is wait for them to say they will pay out, get a recipt for the work, send it n and wait for the cheque to come thorugh the door

then get his rims
