Default COM port 1 the 9 pin one ???

Mines stopped responding? any ideas, i use this alot but tryed several differnet devices and programs and none respond???

It comes up serial port, open failed!

any help advive people?

new motherboard time

or stop using archaic technology and buy a usb device

what did you do to stop it working

if its NOT a hardware fault (which imho is the most likely ) then look at the bios settings for the com port, make sure its enabled etc. and check what resources its using, also check these match device manager in windows... altho TBH the way com ports work it'd probably still work even if its configured wrong in windows... lol

what you got plugged into it anyway?

was trying to update the software in my satellite reciever, but need it for other things

make sure other software is not trying to use it.

otherwise, you can get a usb to rs232 converter pretty cheap.
