When making an enquiry about an MR2 turbo which supposed to have a revision 3 engine in and i asked about the engine heres the response i got..

The engine is a standard rev 3 which holds 245bhp as standard. The Apexi induction kit reportedly adds 15-25bhp, the HKS full system again adds 15-30 bhp i was told. The uprated clutch adds another 10bhp. The body is the lighter rev 1 with a rev 3 engine which makes this a real quick combination. The performance spark plugs also help improve the power.
Altogether you have 285 - 300 bhp sitting there when you add all these parts up.

when i was looking for an rx7 last year i rang one guy up about a really nice one i had seen and he told me he had just paid Ł300 to have the valve clearances set and a new cam chain tensioner fitted. haha, ITS A ROTARY. muppet i didnt buy that one

Do you have his contact details? I've got some dustcaps here that add 8bhp each and an airfreshner that gives an extra 6bhp

deacat with full exhaust and a decent induction kit makes the power go up on the rev3s a fair bit.

Mine is sitting with around 285ish with the same sort of mods. No boost turn ups either except what was released when it was decatted

kenny, if yours is 285bhp it IS running increased boost, just trust me on this one... lol

 

my clutch gives me 330hp without it i have no power lol.

technicaly yes as the decat made the boost increase but i have not altered it is what i meant.

I had my car rolling roaded after fitting the mongoose and Apexi induction kit and without touching anything it made an extra 20bhp.


I guess if you add a lightweight flywheel with the clutch it can have the affect similar to gaining power by reducing the rotational mass of the engine, which has the same affect as reducing car weight but by a larger amount. Less weight with standard power is the same as same weight with more power.
