Just had to ask me mate about that one, Toyota Starlet in drag he said, though he did also say 920KG 133bhp and huge potential.

Same concept as the R5 turbos. A reasonably powerful and tuneable engine in a low weight chassis to give a good power to wieght ratio.

I agree with you when you say they are not special but they can certainly put alot of so called quick calls to shame. I couple of my mates have some big power starlets and they really do go.

Over here you can only get the starlet sr/sportif models.. the glanza-v turbo and starlet gt turbo were never available here.

Iv had three starlet gt turbo's, one with a hybrid turbo (180bhp) and they do move well. I was interested in one recently thats had a td04 conversion and running 238bhp @ the fly, 203 @ the wheels. My god they move!

Glanza V is kind of like the facelifted Starlet GT. All imports as well I think. Very capable cars with the ability to embarrass PLENTY of cars on the road when it really shouldn't be. A bit of a sleeper as unless you are into your cars you won't really know what they are. Always liked them, wicked hot hatches!

We tune many upto 250bhp on the stock 1.3 engines. There pretty quick at this level cause there so light, most mid 800kgs.

a friend of mine is building one using the Toyota Paseo (???) 1.5 bottom end, fully forged up on a TD05 turbo, custom plentnum. The same set up has seen 463bhp from one, but my friend is looking for a reliable 350bhp...

awsome little cars, with very little tune will show up much bigger cars!

Imagine it would be good fun. I used to love my Fiat Uno Turbo, little pocket rocket and a sleeper, the amount of times I got pulled by coppers in it was unreal as they didn't expect to see an uno going so fast

Brother mate had one. I was very impressed with how it went. Not much done to it other than a front mount intercooler and Subaru turbo (TD04 I think)

Sure he said it was supposed to be about 180bhp. Certainly felt quick. Not pretty mind
