Its an 03 plate 2.4 tdci model (mini bus)

Tried to start it and it was really sluggish trying to turn over then made a noise like it blew a fuse and now is completely dead, lights dont even come on with ignition on etc

What could this be? its done 82,000 miles if this helps at all?

I know the mondeos suffer with the starter motors clogging up with shite from the dual mass flywheel/clutch, which causes the starters to sieze.

Could be something worth looking at possibly?

the fuse popping could just be a coincidence but we have had to change a lot of timing chains and tensioners as they go slack and put the cam out of time!

yes when they don't start straight away it is usually the chain.

but i have just re read what you have wrote and i would first check the earth strap on the battery under the drivers seat as that has a fuse built in to it
