I totally get your point, and when you strip away all the showbiz, sure it's a simple illusion - But it's pretty obvious why the lottery link has generated so much interest. After the fact there's a realisation that it's just a trick, but during the 'act' and shortly after many many people were thinking "What the fuck!"
It's like David Copperfield hiding the Statue of Liberty. It's technically no different to simple card misdirection - But one is "cool", the other is "WOW!" .

i dunno about the camera tricks.. 2 reasons
1: that would be the Biggest disappointment ever LOL
2: if you look at the youtube videos of the the balls 'moving' as the overlay is removed..
well possibly. but the cameraman is not steady with his camera, so it would be very obvious as the overlay wouldnt stay matched up to the image on the screen.?
who knows. he wont reveal 100% how he did it anyway i dont reckon!

Even though he's feeding us this - I still inside believe there is no possible way of guessing the national lottery. (well there is, but it would be EXTREMELY rare.)

You genuinely believed it? I certainly didn't
He used examples to make you think it was all factual (like that fact about the people guessing the weight of the cow). But the cow's weight is a 'fact', the lottery numbers are completely random, and as such the two aren't comparable.
There is no way that automatic writing could have come up with the answer. The whole programme was just more misdirection to make you believe him.
Why didn't he show the final group the numbers? Or at least write them down and leave them in the room for the group to check after the draw? Why? Becuse the numbers they 'chose' weren't the actual numbers!

Load of bollox and a poor show to be honest that was just 60 minutes of promoting innumeracy to make stupid people think they can influence randomness.

To see if it was a load of bollocks or not, surely it wouldn't be too hard to replicate something like that, or maybe it would, but with the amount of ppl on here you could give it a go. If it worked, we'd all win a wedge, if its crap, we've all lost a quid each

IF he had revealed the number to the people BEFORE he went on I'd say amazing, totally incredible, however he didn't. He invented a story to cover the real way it was done which either included camera trickery or some other technology.
