I totally get your point, and when you strip away all the showbiz, sure it's a simple illusion - But it's pretty obvious why the lottery link has generated so much interest. After the fact there's a realisation that it's just a trick, but during the 'act' and shortly after many many people were thinking "What the fuck!"
I am unable to look at things like this without stripping away all the showbiz instantly, its how my mind works, im very analytical, so its an alien concept to me that others wouldnt view it the same way, hence to me it seems "weird" that some people are so taken in by it.

It's like David Copperfield hiding the Statue of Liberty. It's technically no different to simple card misdirection - But one is "cool", the other is "WOW!" .
My reaction to that, rather than being "cool" or "wow" was very much "meh, so what"

i dunno about the camera tricks.. 2 reasons

1: that would be the Biggest disappointment ever LOL

2: if you look at the youtube videos of the the balls 'moving' as the overlay is removed..

well possibly. but the cameraman is not steady with his camera, so it would be very obvious as the overlay wouldnt stay matched up to the image on the screen.?

who knows. he wont reveal 100% how he did it anyway i dont reckon!

If it is a camera trick - which I agree would be a massive letdown, then they would have used the wobbily camera on purpose, and done some computer wobbily trickery to make the halves match up and make you think that it's 'real'.

Reckon he will reveal 100%, he normally does.

Even though he's feeding us this - I still inside believe there is no possible way of guessing the national lottery. (well there is, but it would be EXTREMELY rare.)

He hasn't guessed. It's an illusion, it's just HOW he did the illusion that's bugging me.

Typical Darren Brown, does a parlour trick but invents a spin on it that's plausible but highly unlikely.

You genuinely believed it? I certainly didn't

He used examples to make you think it was all factual (like that fact about the people guessing the weight of the cow). But the cow's weight is a 'fact', the lottery numbers are completely random, and as such the two aren't comparable.

There is no way that automatic writing could have come up with the answer. The whole programme was just more misdirection to make you believe him.

Why didn't he show the final group the numbers? Or at least write them down and leave them in the room for the group to check after the draw? Why? Becuse the numbers they 'chose' weren't the actual numbers!

The tube was just to carry them in. I somehow doubt he would have done such a schoolboy error Less.

Ive never been a fan of him but if I was id had just lost all respect for him - id sooner he stood up and said it was a camera split screen trick than bullshit his way though like he did tonight.

Load of bollox and a poor show to be honest that was just 60 minutes of promoting innumeracy to make stupid people think they can influence randomness.

To see if it was a load of bollocks or not, surely it wouldn't be too hard to replicate something like that, or maybe it would, but with the amount of ppl on here you could give it a go. If it worked, we'd all win a wedge, if its crap, we've all lost a quid each

It is a load of bollocks. Common sense should tell you that. The lottery is random, it cannot be predicted.

IF he had revealed the number to the people BEFORE he went on I'd say amazing, totally incredible, however he didn't. He invented a story to cover the real way it was done which either included camera trickery or some other technology.

Judging by his 'usual' performances, I kinda hope this will happen, he'll explain it all and I can go back to being impressed by his brand of entertainment. At the mo' I just feel a bit cheated.

It can be guessed, but to predict it you'd need to believe with a lot of certainty it was the right answer before it happened, which is impossible.

Does depend on your definition of 'predict' I suppose though
