Default computer peeps.....

ok .. small iritating problem ...
win xp pro system
got a cdrw that wont read data .. it plays music cd's, but wont recognise blank cd's or ones writen on that drive...

what ya recon ... software issue or new drive needed???

yes mate .. been workin up untill thursday last week ..
updated drivers etc etc ... no conflicts...
not sure of the make it was a kit type thingy .. think its around 3 years old or summit....

just found out its a traxdata kit....

take the drive round someone elses house if u can be bothered to do a reinstall of xp, failing that, get a new drive, they only about 20 quid now

got a spare one sat here... but dont really wanna take it out and find the same problem really do i....

just hopin its a duff drive thats all

Test it in MS-DOSm click start, then run, and type cmd and press enter. In the command prompt, type dir e: (assuming e is the drive letter of your cd-rw) and press enter. If it displays a list of files then it's fine. You could also try booting off the windows xp cd-rom

hhmmm just seems like i have all the pain in the ass pc problems at the moment ...still no luck with the internet sharing either

just use a router to set up ur internet sharing, its a doddle then

are you using the same cd's? are you burning them at a speed higher than they are capable of?
i tried burning apparently 24x cd's at 48 and had similar problems.

I had the same problem and I just bought another drive because I only discovered it when I was trying to install windows after my hard disk broke!

oh god no ...aol ...

got 2 wireless cards ..can see the pc's no probs ..can file shaer etc .. just no internet

wont even see blank cd's

oh well will try a different drive later..see what happens
