if you hit ebay you can get a set inc some vinyl for around 200 pound upwards, depends on how much you want to spend tbh

cd decks start around 100 plus mixer etc so alow 200-300 plus

to kit your self out with top spec stuff you can spend thousnds, mine stands me in around 5000, and still not finished

something like this would get you started

yea as 666 says even going to a cash converters cos a lot of people will be getting rid of there gear, technic 1210's are some of the best vinyl decks around and the price has dropped loads since the CD deck kicked off properly, but if it's just to learn i'd start off small with your amp and speakers so atleast it'll save you a few bob.

couple of 1210's and a reasonable mixer will set you back a grand if new, maybe £600 second hand.
don't worry about amps and speakers too much, you can usually plug into a system in a bar/club etc.
good headhones are a must though, sehnisers are between £90 and £150, these are fantastic, or were when i bought my gear around ten years ago.

if you go cd mixing it can be much cheaper, although the retun is usually less than a vinyl mixer, although music is easier to source over the net instead of hours in record shops trying new material.

get yourself an easy set up to start with
learn the basics first how to mix when to mix etc
get yourself a good book on how to do this
if your serious about taking it to the next level
then get what you want
i started on belt driven decks easier than direct to learn on
and once i got the hang of it i purchased numarks ttx1's
and got a fancy mixer i'm now also in possesion of about 2000 pieces of vinyl
good luck
