escort rs turbo help
can sum 1 help me iv got an escort 1600 rs turbo s2 and will not start ther is fuel getting to the distributor but not going to the injectors but the 5th injector still works been on it 4 a week naw and not getting eny werif thers sum 1 that no's more than me please help ta dillon

Escort rs turbo
ello hope sum 1 can help me got a mad problem with my escort rs turbo takes the piss to start when it duz u have to keep the revs up about 2000rpm for the first 5mins then its ok to drive but cuts out half a mile down the road changed the meetering unit both ecu's and starter motor love the car so much just wont to drive it has any 1 had the same prob HELP!

Iv been to 3 garages thay carnt work it out plus auto electrician it was them who said to cum on this really need help duz eny 1 no the best place to take this sort of problem cheers

I bet there is fuel going to the injectors, your just not testing it right.
bridge fuel pump relay so fuel pump runs constant, take injector out, press metering flap down......voila fuel comes out the injectors.

Sounds expensive! you should find out what's going wrong first before buying willy nilly!
You'd prob be cheaper taking it to someone who knows how the fuel sytem works
try pressing the metering flap down about 3 or 4 mm when someone cranks it over (makesure the plugs arent soaking/fouled ) and see if it fires up, might give you a clue.....

YA DUN THAT IT FIRES UP BUT THEN CUTS OUT THE idle speed IS ALL OVER THE PLACE THE FUEL PUMP IS MAKING MAD NOISES WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING CAN THAT BE THE RELAY WHEN THE CAR FIRST BROKE DOWN THER WAS A POP AND THAT WAS THAT JUST PUT A STARTER MOTOR ON AND THATS WEN IT STARTED FIERING UP AGANE BUT JUST CUTS OUT

hi put fuel pump on car works naw but sum times it wont restart when uv just used it its mad the revs or on 2000rpm and sound like its over boosting will i need to adjust the actuator any help lads wod be a big help cheers mike

Take it to someone who knows about RS turbos and understands how the metering unit works, someone on here will know a decent tuner near where you stay as I dont? its not something you can setup yourself without a gas analyzer/Rolling road. they will also set the boost and makesure its not running lean on boost.

is there a easy way to check metering head ,,,my rebuilt engine has just gone into a car that has not run for 8 years in a garage with no engine.. 1 owner from new before me my mates dad had it , i dropped engine in .fuels reaching injectors , got spark fully rebuilt engine no fire up, i betting its my metering head..so u think i should maybe take airbox of and press the flap gently a few times to see fi the change in position intices it to giv a response ,,if it even stutters slightly if i do that ile take it to the garage straight away, my problem is,, i bloody love fiddling with it and dont want the man in the garage to fix it..I WANT TO LOL ,realise with my limeted knowledge bieng down to playing xbox im maybe will have to take it to him

hi mate i changed fuel pump on my car and works good nawwot il look at is the idle speed pipes for leaks and check your sparks see if there wet get sum 1 to turn the key then u press the flap thats wot i had to do to to mine b4 i changed the idle speed and found a slice in 1 of my pipes

where do i learn about the metering head and so on , also my plugs are wet does this mean my metering head is operating ? and isnt fooked but needs setting up

there is a pin inside the metering head, either a pin or roller that sticks if its been sitting for a while.... i stripped mine down and rebuilt it when i did my engine but this was foooooking years ago.....

its the mfi , well i have checked the plugs there all slightly wet, disconected the injectors checked they work they work fine, have 2 good coil packs to choose from they both produce good clean spark on every plug n i have aligned the coresponding notches on the dizzy and block to there original positions ,new plugs ,oil filter rebuilt engine it should start but nothing yet , tommorow im going to check the hoses around metering box make sure there no air leaks and add some more fuel as i only tried to start it with 6 pounds of optimax put into a empty tank thats been empty for years ,20 pounds of optimax in the morning

I think ive found my problem, my fuel metering unit what the airbox plugs onto is drowning in fuel whay to much in there when i push the flap down.. so disapointing after all this work

wot is ya starter motor like is it running slow when u turn the key u need a gud fast start still fink its over fueling tho thats wot mine was like got new starter on it fuel pump and tuned its sound as naw iv had 7 weeks of shit with my car ul get there in the end have u been playing with the idol or enythin

cars are always a pain takes time to go through the bodges by prior owners !!!!!

im drowning in fuel on mine . i mean theres fuel going down the charge carrier through to the metering unit ... someone sugested theres a cold start valve that may be stuck open

yeah will do, i got another metering unit anyways so should be ok, im buying a metering unit gasket now on ebay for safe measure , but i know for sure the fuel is coming in from throttle body and pissing throught the charge carrier, somethings definatly wrong there

ya got it all sorted naw still got my old metering unit in my fuel pump was making a mad noise so changed that thats when i got it started but when it was hot it didint restart for 10mins and turning slow so changed the starter naw starts first time evry time then it was no boost and idoling like mad so 1 of me m8s tuned it for me hes had about 5 rs turbo in the past and nows his shit tell ya 1 fing ya learn a lot when u have an rs turbo got it to 12 psi working nice cheers
