not sure i understand the question or why you'd need to know?

the turbo will spin at idle but the speed will be minimal

just how fast the shaft spins, is it meant to hardly move on tickover?

a t34.48 starts boosting properly at about 1400rpm. a t34.63 was about 2500rpm. ive no idea what speed the shaft on the turbo would be spinning.

no, it was 1400 for the .48. i might be wrong with the .63 as that was much longer ago.

could it have been 1400 for the .48, 2500 for the .55 and 3500 for the .63?
it was a few years ago now but i remember much prefering the stage 2 .48 as it was much more instant for accelerating from a standstill.

i was just sure it was suppose to spool faster on tickover, its turns very slowly, but then i reved it to abou 2k and it spooled fine, its just i always thought they spooled alot faster on tickover

You mean spin? Most will think of spooling as coming on boost I guess, probably why there is so much confusion

It should spin freely at idle

Well, you are trying to pump air into the inlet manifold, there should be some resistance.

At tickover it is perfectly normal to be able to stop the turbo spinning by holding the shaft, just pressing on the end will stop it.
My T3/34.48 starts boost at around 1400/1500, and is full boost by about 2600, but mine is a T34 compressor wheel in a T3 housing machined out to size.
