under the passenger rear seat you will find a plastic nut and another platic nut with a longer plastic thingy on it
secured together with a plastic pin

unscrew the plastic nuts until there is loads of slack in teh cable

Slackening off the handbrake cable isn't the correct way of doing it, the only thing you'll end up doing by trying to squeeze the hook off the end of the caliper is stretching the secondary cable.

The correct way to do it is to disconnect the secondary cable from the primary. There is an equaliser on the end of the secondary cable (hidden up behind the prop) which is connected to the primary with a pin and clip, remove the clip and push out the pin (g-clamp and socket work well for this) . Its more aggro to disconnect it all but its quicker in the long run.

you can slack this off by a LONG way, just keep going until you've got enough slack on teh cable to get one side out by a few inches
then use a screwdriver to simply prise the hook end over the top
the other side willnow have enough slack in the cable to get sorted

it's a right pain in the arse to do first time aruond, but once you know how it's a 2 minutes job

easier with the wheels off though, just in case you were trying to do it through the spokes

what you have to do is put a kink in the cable to hook it over first
then slowly pull the cable back so that the kink unkinks itself

Or he could have done it the proper way and spent and extra five minutes disconnecting the cable and saved himself lots of time and pissing about

but then he might have lost the pin and spent several days waiting for a replacement trying to save 5 minutes doing it the "correct" way mate

and yes, been there, done that and then found it after i'd reveresed the car off the drive

My 3 door has a twin exhaust system (under the car not poking out the back) so with that in the way it would take alot longer than 5 mins lol

got the new ones fitted now so the car moves again, now i can get it out the garage and get the handbrake adjusted etc

Thanks for all your help
