Default What sort of money to paint a front bumper these days?

A bird (as in one with wings!!) wallopped my mums motor last week and ruined the front bumper on her new shape Honda Civic. Needs replacing... Bumper is cheap to buy but what sort of money does it cost these days to paint a front bumper these days?

paint and materials £65
Labour £150-200 depending on where you go

you are best of trying to find someone who can either do it in their spare time or a one man band show with minimal over heads

try and go with a recommendation if you can

edit: best to use someone that has an oven

I think you will find they come painted from Honda

According to partbase the painted part is £96.78 + vat, and the lower grille part is 22.73 + vat.

Why's that? (serious question)

I was told by an experienced sprayer (rightly or wrongly) that an oven just allowed the bodyshop to turn jobs round quicker, and that it didn't make the paintjob any better? Is that not the case?

Chris, Partbase is what we use at work for estimating. Prices can be slightly out sometimes but 90% of the time is spot on.

Best of giving your local dealership a quick call to confirm, they will want a reg or chassis number to get the paint code.

Cheers Benn.

I would have thought that any good bodyshop should be able to dry a part without crap getting into it though? As for making the paint more solid, I dunno - any experts care to comment?

purely for contamination reasons as others has said; and for speed purposes - the sprayer i use, sprays classic cars. I watched him spray an E type jag; it was dry in 30 mins!

Im a painter and the benifits of a oven/spray booth are your in a contolled enviroment, (temps) have extraction for fumes/overspray to atomise and a clean enviroment to paint, our ovens at work have top filters for air blown in and filters for air extracted out, white painted walls, with a tacky coating sprayed over to keep contamintion to a minimum.

It also only takes a 30 min bake at 80.c for the paint to be hardend.
