What do you consider to be a "quick" car?

Most Evos do 4.8 or something to 60mph as standard. That's why I believe even a Stage 1 Evo pushing 350-400bhp is properly serious enough. I don't care if people are used to 600bhp or even more stupid BHP, on the road, would there really be any situations when a genuine 400bhp/~400ft.lbs wouldn't be enough?

i think that its not just acceleration its cornering that makes a car feel quick. and go quick, its all about the driver, these guys that are all jerky and bad lines arent quick u need to be smooth. so fair enough horse power helps but i know people who are pub boasters with like 100+ more power than me that i can keep up with. ...

I have driven alot of different cars and have been passenger in many more some of which have had some figures in terms of power outputs but I would say generally that
Quick is hot hatch performance ie CTR, VXR, standard RS's etc.
Rapid is Hypercar performance ie high end Ferrari's, Big Porsches, Big Lamborginis Bugatti Veyron etc.
Fast is somewhere in between those two catagories eg Evo's, BMW's M range, Audi's RS range and of course Mercedes AMG range to name a few.
Obviously a 400bhp Cosworth would be in the fast car catagory but when I mention the cars above I talk about cars in standard as the manufacturer intended states of tune.
The fastest car I have had the pleasure of being passenger in would be MadRussels Volvo 850 T-5R and tbh the handling of it impressed me just as much which is saying something for a FWD car with as much power as it has. I am sure it would upset alot of the cars in the high end of what I would class as fast so to me that makes it very fast
The fastest car I have driven would probably be a Mitsubishi Evolution VIII FQ-400 that was fast also but not as fast as the Volvo but still a very fast car none the less and certainly didn't disappoint.

I consider 120bhp a tonne as the bare minimum for day to day driving to be bearable.
150-200bhp a tonne is a fun everyday car
To be special, as a weekend toy, then 300bhp/tonne would probably do me.
Im hoping to be properly scared when I finish the kit car with circa 650bhp/tonne

There is elapsed time, ie the start to the finish of the 1/4 mile.
Then you get split times, ie Start of the 1/4 to 60ft, 120ft , 1/8th mile etc etc.....
Terminal speed is the speed of the car as you pass over the finishing line.
Effectively you could have a 600BHP rear drive cossie that spins the wheels all the way to fourth gear, then gets traction in fourth and has a massive spike of acceleration. The 1/4 mile time might be 13 secs, with a terminal speed of 140Mph.... But that does not take into account the acceleration, as the 1st 3 gears were just wheelspin.
Then take a 350BHP 4x4 car, that launches hard, with no wheelspin . The 1/4 mile time could be 12.5 secs, but with a lower TERMINAL speed of 125 mph. The car runs a quicker 1/4 mile time due to better traction and being able to use all of it's power, if that makes sense?

Generally you will find if you fluff your launch, your time will go down but really your speed stays about the same.
It's a good indicator of power to weight. I always look at the speed in comparison to the time.

My m3 with 380 hp at the wheels (bout 415 fly) is quite fast. It just seems to pull really strong every one of the seven gears. A real horizon chaser as we would have said back in the day.
