Rich, it went great thanks mate

Night and day difference in the midrange between the cammed 1.8 engine and the williams engine, it pulled so much better out of the second chicane this time, last time I was in a real torque "hole" at that point on the track.

Actual top end power hasnt changed to any great extent, but how it delivers it is far better.

WELL worth the effort

I was out in this -

If anyone has pics or vids of it out on the track those would be appreciated.

Good day I thought, shame about the number of stoppages.

Some track days (not that one oddly) do have either novice sessions, or complete novice track days - get yourself on one of those. Even if your car is totally rubbish, as long as it runs well and safely, you can have fun pushing it to it's limits safely without fear of killing yourself or others.

It's as addictive as a Cossie, probably more expensive, and normally more reliable. Don't do it!

I love my cars to be fair, see if you can get out in a quick one on track somewhere, then go out in a quick Cossie as well - like Jay Hinton's 500 bhp 3 door I raced at the RSOC Combe day - it will make your decision even harder - both cars can be great, I've just settled on the Evo route now.

Is that just different tyres, or traffic on the day?
Traffic, just that. So many slower cars, I was overtaking one or two on each straight, but with 30 cars per session I was going nowhere. Was fun overtaking them all though.

Only a couple were wankers, and they were often the ones that looked like they should know better. Thankfully most moved over or allowed enough room to go by.

But yep, as you said, I was being very careful compared to my old gung ho attitude. Can't afford to wreck my new car

ah right cool, if you ever come across him on a track day try and make the little bastard crash lol, when he left the bolts loose on the 19 i rang him and asked why he had not tightened nothing up properly he just laughed and said some were loose when you bought it to me so i put them back how i found them the bloody idiot, i was going pretty fast when the anti roll bar came free, I made him aware that next time i see him i would most likely kick the living day lights out of him and lucky for him he has not crossed my path lol.

oh and chip you did bloody well at coombe , fair play to you i just wish i had better tyres cause i would have had a go in my st170 (but think i would poussy out at last minute incase it got damaged lol)

I would love to build a track car on a budget, roughly how much has your clio cost you so far
thanks
tom

Ive spent about 1600 in total now, although that includes service items like cambelt and oils, buying 4 gearboxes, and a set of pradas for road use and a set of 888s for track use.

The car itself (excluding service items and tyres) owes me around a grand all in now.
