Default ftao Indians

What do you eat traditionally? For Breakfast, dinner, tea, supper? Now i know the indian food we eat isnt what traditianally you lot eat, but it must surely be a derivitive of it? I love Indian food but if i have one at the weekend, i kinda feel i shouldnt have another then as there are so many calories in them, and if i do have another, usually when the wife is at work like at the moment im fancying one, she will get on at me saying no wonder your banging weight on! But its like i say, you hardly ever see fat indians!!!!! So there must be a healthier option to your food but yet still tasty/spicy etc?

Traditionally Indian food does not have the sauce which we do. This gives the main calories etc.

I had quite a few indian dishes and i mist admit i could eat it all the time.

I do like Kedgeree, which is meant to be a traditional Indian breakfast dish.

I bet most of them eat Rice Krispies though to be fair!

Indian food is healthy. Its just how its cooked that can make it VERY UNHEALTHY. My mum always make sure she uses less of what is not good for you and a little more of what is good for you. Majority of Indian food is cooked in so much oil that makes is fatty.

for breakfast, i normally have cereal, the folks have roti
for lunch it's macdonalds or the like, the folks have roti
for dinner then it's some sort of curry, (english words here) couliflower, chick peas, cheese, chickn, peppers, cut beans, or any combinatoins of the previous along with 3 or 4 roti's, smotheeds in butter because that's the way to have them
weekends are a bit different as it's usually mooli prantha's with yougurt and lashings of oil on them, although there are varioations of them made with potatoes or cauliflower as well

all the indian foods are eaten with pickle, mint sauce, raw onions and yougurt as a side dish to dip into after every mouthfull

i'm 6 foot tall and 11 stone

for approx 250 grams of chicken for you non indians

little oil in pan
insert 1 medium finely chopped onion
bring to golden brown
insert 1 clove of finely chopped garlic
then insert roughly same volume of chopped ginger
wait till colour has changed for all contents
insert salt according to taste, 1 spoon
insert one spoon of turmeric powder
insert one spoon tandoori malasa
insert one spoon garum massala
insert chopped green chilli to taste
insert 1 chopped tomato, or puree, or half a tin of chopped tomato (not peeled)
insert chopped pepper
let it fry till the oil starts to seperate
mix it well
insert chicken
mix again till chicken is coated
let it simmer a little
insert cup of water
let it cook on a low gas for 30 or so minutes, stiring occasionaly
insert corriander
heap onto plate
insert into mouth

the orignal bits are what you need to make the mix, then you just insert whatever you wish to insert into the mix, be it chicken, lamb, chick peas, other vegatables etc and then stuff your face to your hearts content

very simple and best served with fresh from the tava roti's freshly rubbed on one side with a chunk of butter
