Default Wall mounted plasma people.

Hello,

I mounted my Plasma on the wall the other day.

I made the brackets myself because the 1s in the shop didn't fit close enough to the wall, it's now mounted about 10mm off the wall, now the problem is I only have 1 HDMI slot on the side, the other 3 are on the back, are there any 90 degree angled HDMI leads, I suppose the other way is to chisel the wall out to clear. I managed to strip the power lead down and make it a lot more slimline, the HDMI cables won't be as easy though.

You could have recessed the bracket back to the brickwork

I took my inner skin away pul a lintel across with ventilation thru the cavity via a ducted fan.is now flush with inner platerwork

Because they all mount the TV pretty far off the wall, the 1 at the shop for Ł130 still was about 40mm clearance to the wall, mines about 10mm.

Yes i did think about that, and i'm still tempted to go totally flush with it, this way was the easiest at the time.

Thats what i've used, then just trimmed an extra 5mm off the plastic casing and it fits perfect.

The brackets are that far away from the wall because plasma tvs need to be that far away for ventilation because they get hot !!!!

Thats right. That is the reason they sit a distance away, to allow enough airflow behind them to stop them over heating. My plasma gets very very hot!!!

i fitted a new lcd tv to a customers house that we reccessed into the wall by about 50mm
that doesnt overheat, we left a 50mm gap around the tv and thats fine.

ive not seen any cables at a 90degree angle tho.

Well actually while I was in comet I saw how they mount there TV's, they sit pretty much flush with the display, i then asked, what bracket does that use, the reply was "oh the engineers make ours"

My plasma gets pretty hot too, although there isn't really any flow of air, theres no fan to block, just a few holes at the top to allow a convention through the TV, there isn't any holes on the back of the TV which is the only bit close to the wall.

IMO my brackets are far superior than the shop 1's, they do the job better (sits closer to the wall) and they don't have a steel plate that covers more of the holes than my brackets do.

All sorted now, cheers Danneth
