Default mk2 Golf vr6

Anyone had one?

i know being a conversion its only a small group that will have had them.

but i've been offered a properly sorted one with cage, full mk3 running gear, abs, etc etc. (so wide track) uprated brakes all round

buckets, oil cooler, h&r track ARB's front and rear, uprated bushes.

all for 2k.

Opinions?

Lee Ivatt's one looked absolutely lovely... the sound from a VR6 with uprated induction is something else IMO. Seems like you've been offered a good deal for that one Ryan, sounds very track biased and not sure that the heavy V6 up front wont knock the handling a wee bit.. but its certainly got a lot of uprated/conversion bits to compensate for the heavier engine so bet its still a proper hoot.

Cheers,
Grant

yeah i think the heavy front end thing may be a myth, well not a myth, but i tihnk if done properly its virtually not noticable with the extra weight if compensated for correclty.

i think people just bang in vr6 lump on skinny wheels and narrow track without sorting the geometry.

seems like a lot of car for 2k, seeing as the seats and ARB's are about Ł700 on there own.

only downside for me is its red, but i guess i cant have everything for 2k lol

Do it! Keep it for a year or so, then sell it for Ł2k again!

Assuming it's not a nail, for 2K it's a bargain! Got any pics?

I had one, the V6 sound is Loverly, and the myth about the front end is just a myth.

Lee Ivatts was awesome IMO perfect.

Will have one one day, and IMO a vr6 mk2 let alone a lighter mk2 is perfect for day to day cruising around.

the noise = sex.

to be honest this is only a cheap toy, the paintwork aint great, and red is my worse colour for a car, but for the money its hard not to like it, going to take it for a test drive tonight, see whats what.

if i like it that much and keep it,i might even paint it

sounds like a bargain. a mate of mine had one for a while, and that was a proper hoot. not as nimble as it had been as standard, but really impressive the rest of the time

Get it bought mate, have driven a few and you can still throw them about just as much as a 16v just watch for the back coming round on you as lift off over steer is crazy with these.
