To clarify (as i used to answer at least one call a week asking about this very question )...
Motorsport Developments in Blackpool had nothing to do with this 'edition' of the Vectra.
There was a company called 'MSD' down Milton Keynes way (who i believe are no longer trading) who did the work.

as with every vauxhall id say, engine management light on every other week, constantly in limp home and oil leaks aplenty! nice looking cars though always fancied one myself and at least youve got half a chance with that one because of the very low miles.

msd did rallying and did the hyudai wrc's for hyundai cars, they were into touring cars too hence the association with general motors.
gsi's are very good on juice for a 2.5 or 2.6 petrol v6,i have had loads of vectra b's infact every one they have ever done and the 2.5 gsi is just as economical the way i drive as a 2.0 or a 2.2 petrol.

Friend of mine had one of these, and it was surprisingly good on fuel to be honest. I was impressed really.
They make a nice noise, and look ok on the outside, but the interior isn't as nice as an ST200 in my opinion, and they certainly don't drive as well as a Mondeo. I don't like the chassis really, but each to their own. Think the ST200 is far superior to drive really.
As far as I know, all the GSIs at this age at the MSD stickering on. To my knowledge (that may be way out), it's an SRI with 20bhp extra, and has the Super Touring bodykit on it. Nice looking motors though, and you don't see loads of them.

My V6 Vectra was fine when I had it, when I first got it the front cam cover gasket was weeping and oil was getting on to CPS. I replaced gasket, new sensor and done the belts on it and it was a bulletproof car from then. I loved it. A few other friends have had them too and not one had been any bother in the slightest.

all the gsi vectras b's i have had have had the msd badge on the slam panel, any with msd anywhere else have been stuck on by a bell end.
the gsi has electric recaros and if leather are much better than other simmilar cars.
they are not so fast off the mark but i have seen 140mph out of one i have been in but our 3.2 gsi has shown much more than that infact the police got done for doing 170 in a gsi 3.2 and thats fast for a car you can buy for sensible money.
the earlier ones look more sporting though,i found then super tourers are shit on the bodies. have seen loads of vectra st's in white with rust everywhere, after 99 they sorted themselves out.
i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels they are good on juice btw.

I used to have one and loved it tbh quite good on the juice cruising and had it up to 150 mph and sound awsome with a induction kit on, Recaro's are lovely and comfy too.
had mine 12 months and never had any trouble at all with it just 8 flat tyres and a snapped handbrake cable

My bro in law had the prototype one, No 0000
Cracking car but not very quick
These 2 pics are of the actual car when it was released, it was used for all the press releases.

from what i know MSD as in the one that built the vectra gsi was a formed as a break away from gm europe motorsport, as was actually part of GM.
they built all the limited edition vectras
the gsi is basically a SRI with a body kit different interia and a remaped ecu and some different cams.
then there are 2 other vectras that often get confused, there is the super touring vectra these are basically a gsi but with different 16 inch wheels and i belive they only came in white.
then you have the much much rarer ST200 with im sure there was only 38 with ONE being a estate.
the spec is basically
AP Racing 4pot calipers 330mm disc's
AP suretrac limited slip diff with lower final drive
Speedline minstal4 wheel 7.5x17 et49 with michelin tyres 2154517
Koni road/race dampers + lowered springs
3Ltr inlet cams only
Recaro front sports seats with matching rears seats and door cards
irmscher front air dam (same as GSi)
steinmetz side skirts
irmscher carbon fibre/leather steering wheel
irmscher carbon fibre gear knob
irmscher rear box
st200

There was also a Vectra b called the ST3000, it was made in exceptionaly small numbers (4?) cost upwards of Ł40k. Think they were made to special commision only when new order was placed..
EDIT: There were three ST3000's made, and it was done through Thurlby Motors in Alford, Lincolnshire. Cost Ł14k plus your new vectra.
More info here http://www.russbordino.plus.com/docs...0mainframe.htm
It basically has a 3.0l v6, AP brakes, Koni's (i think) LSD, lowered final drive, leather interior (recaro) fully leccy windows all round.
BTB bespoke exhaust, and induction and head work. Soubtly bodywork changes including different spoiler and different wheels? Also full leather retrim inside. Aside from this they looked just like the mk1 Gsi.
266bhp at the fly wheel
The car below is a genuine (apparently) ST3000, although the owner didn't like the wheels so put original Gsi ones on, with spacers to clear the breaks.
Google it, pics are far and few between, but are there along with info.

My brother has a gsi and i have a 2.5v6 mondeo. And they are not that thirsty!!! My mondeo 2.5 gets more mpg than my old 1.8 mondeo. less strain on engine to pull weight of cars.
