the garmin does have more "tricks" to their stuff, but the fact that the tomtom user is much easier to get what they want with the minimum of fuss means that for the majority of thicko sat nav users it's going to be the choice to win

besides, if you are used to the tomtom set up then it's very difficult to figure out the optiosn on the garmin and others, the one my cousins got also gives you average speeds and distance and all that, but it's too complicated to use so he doesn't use it

Looked at both then bought Garmin, dont regret it & its a great unit.

They're on extra commission because they're not selling in anywhere near the numbers the TomTom's are.

As said, I've had both. The TomTom is easily better. Nothing wrong with the Garmin, but there's nothing out there to touch the latest TomTom GO range.

Went for Tom Tom in end as better the devil you know sometimes. PLus after looking at Garmin in shop seemed a bit more fussy on menus. As this was mainly for old dear though best. Seems good!
