Ignition problem
I took my s2 off the road in Jan as it needed the floor welded up for the next mot, but as always I like to take it to the next step and basicaly renew everything on the car
Makes sense to do it now when its all stripped and on stands.
It was my daily drive before and used to start on the button, there was no electronic or engine woes. Anyway since then I have replaced a few gaskets, powdercoated the sump, rocker and other little bits and pieces. I also replaced the spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap + arm.
But now unfortunatly its not firing up??
My first thought was that the amp in the coil had gone so I got a new
coil, still no joy!
Then I done all the usual checks to see if everything has been connected correctly...all seems to be fine!
Im now getting a bit confused so Im checking for any breakages in the loom in the usual places i.e the coil wires and the dizzy sensor plug but its all perfect.
Now thinking that when I had the floor welded its fried the ecu! Manage to borrow one from a mate but still nothing......very odd.
I few people have been saying that the hall sensor had packed up, so a new dizzy was brought.....again no change!
At this point Id just about had enough with it so I got an electrition round. First thing he said was that the ignition switch had gone. Again im confused because I thought it was built into the ecu as the xr3i had them built onto or near the dizzy. He then tested all of my relays, fuses and loom and couldnt find anything wrong! 'Very strange' he couldnt understand why its not firing up. So off he went scratching his head lol.
The only advice I got really was that there is no power going to the ecu.
So now im stuck with a dead car in my garage and no idea where to go next. Im not getting a spark from the coil and theres no power goin to the ecu.....whats going on??
