Ok ok, jus so peeps know, a top speed run is 100% WOT for the whole time & not many cars run for 20 WOT seconds on a race circuit. Makes a HUGE difference !! But a top speed engine doesnt get the same forces thrown at it like a race engine through corners & up down the power band 100% of the time !!

I believed the reason for Andy's failure at Brunters was the "nose cone" he fitted blocking a little too much of the intercooler/radiator & consequently the engine run too hot & let go ??
Botho turners have had engine's let go tho, Rod's MAD engine had loadsa probs wit head gaskets/blocks before it even got to the car but was alot of R&D & I think Dan (Monty) had loadsa probs wit his 540hp SCS engine & that threw a rod at brunters didn't it ? That was a fair few years ago tho !!

Without all the bickering, both turners are the bo**ocks & I wouldn't hesitate to drop my car at either place for a big power build & wouldn't blink an eye before givin it death at the first opportunity !!

tbh im my eyes the cars that are pasted round track day in day out and run high power are THE best cars there are,the engine proves its metal by way of staying together by being hammered without issues time and time again

It was not the engine's fault it let go rod FACT & plus that was in the white car very early on once fixed it went on for 2 years of solid abuse gatebill smrc 2 season wins every track day available testing at knockhill even made a lancer day to show them boys hoow it was done The thing is FACT we will never know if dave's engine will be as reliable as andy & charlies he uses his on the road & going to do the odd track day/top speed run you cant go flat out on the road all the time quick bursts to show your mates dont count! that is just pub talk really! the both focus's only ever come out to get death & beleive me every min is death. So we will never know. be good to see a mad track car get used the same as they both do & to be fair im sure one of marks engine's would be up to the job. just wont be yum that prove's it

Its comical that this thread is still about, who gives a fuck about top speed this and track day that, at the end of the day these things are bits of metal that eventually will rust, get scrapped, written off etc etc

the way some hark on about it is just anorak which is totally slick wick wack,

in all fairness to everyone ......a cossie lump will always ware out it's only a 4 pot engine at the end of the day

if we had v8's they would last twice or 3 times as long

I was talking to a guy the other day, over here in oz about YB engins, and he said to me, them engins are like fucking handgrenades, just never heard any one say that be fore, as these ozes love a v8.

Cos its actually Mark Shead under the bonnet replacing the Engine. Mark can run 200mph no problem

I think a lot of people on here talk about their cars as if it was a person. Nothing wrong with it. I think Dave has owned YUM long enough for it to be family.

Either way, YUM is my favourite cossie since i first saw it in Fast Ford Mag in 2001

I wasnt slating yum all im saying is that if yum lasts 2 year without the engine being touched apart from servicing you will never be able to say it lasted as long as the scs engine as yum's engine will never be put through what andy & charlies has been. Not a dig at you either you just simply dont use it for racing and as many track days as them, I should know by now you are a bit sensitive tho

Its rods either way. Andy's is just about 800, Rods is 838. Really think people need to calm down, to the OP why didn't you discuss your concerns with the company? To Harvey and Jim, I know its probably difficult to see someone salting your business but tbh, you should have waited for the next day, rang the customer up and discussed with him that it was a 400bhp engine he was buying. As the old saying goes you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time....

2 ppl out of every engine he has built ? he has gave his side of the story for one. Funny how there is so much praise for harvey & you have had a problem it was prob the way you fitted the engine or drove it . pilot error maybe ?

I don't see this is the place for them to justify themselves to you.
I don't have an engine from them but i know people locally who only take their cars to them and have only the highest praise for them. You are firmly in a minority.

The thread isn't helpful to the op nor the company concerned any grievances should have been directed in the proper way to SCS.

As for having fun?well re cossies i reckon if id have gone with a MAD 400 engine i would have had alot more fun!
