I can understand that but stabilty control would have saved a few of them. The moment the back end stepped out of line on a few of those, it would have been saved before it got out of hand.
I've played with mine on ice and it's kept me in check, so I'm sure it would have saved a good few of those.

I think it would have just increased the drivers confidence level by allow them to get away with the minor errors, so they would have ended up having bigger ones.
The problem with a lot of the electronics is that it can kid you into not realising quite where the ragged edge is, so its easier to go way past it.

There's no ignition cut or ABS application like on the Focus. Some of the cars may have been RS models as well, or had RS parts, so mechanical diffs, and no ABS among other things. So no computers at all (bar the ECU)
ACD and AYC, and latterly S-AYC will assist only if certain parameters are met - there are sensors on the clutch, handbrake, steering (YAW) angle and throttle and all will work together to bring the car straight only if the car can based on what the sensors see.
Things like letting off the throttle the moment it slides (which I suspect some of them did, I've no sound here so can't hear the vid) will result in the "computers" not helping out, or sometimes as I've experienced once, massively overcompensating.
I am surprised at the amount of spins though. I've been round Quarry a few times in the wet, and if you prod the throttle and keep it in you perform a very nice, neat power slide / power oversteer round with no drama at all.
I'm sure I would have had my own moments had I been there, but at the same time it really looks like some of the guys out there had no talent what so ever. I bet a few were on 1/2 bald / cheap tyres too. Pet hate of mine, on the MLR people often seem to run budget tyres on Ł15k cars, often mismatching them front to back. Always see For Sale ads selling tyres with 1.6mm or less tread as "ideal for track days", when they're in the main fucked by that stage
Gutted I missed out on what looked like a great day for overtaking tons of cars
Glad the Spiky mobile on decent tyres (and maybe an ok ish driver ) showed them the way to drive
