Default Help please, Proton Satria Gti advice

Basically i'm going to look at this car in the next couple of days with a mate. It's for his dad who is currently in Canada, but is coming back soon and needs a motor.
Has anyone had any experience with these? Good and bad points but would prefer to know the bad parts.
Are they prone to rust?
Any common engine issues?
Would be due a cambelt change around 60k miles im assuming?

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=300339411690

Cheers

They handle like they are on rails as standard, have an ego 3? Floorpan. And many people in rallying like them as a clubman car.

Don't know much else unfortunately... but free bump

Rusty rear arches? What kind of piece of shit car rots on the rear arches, surely modern car manufacturers can make cars that dont rot...... oh wait.

Cool, cheers for that man. I'll be sure to check that. According to the guys on the Proton OC () there's a couple of other spots to look for rust and the windows can stick, but that appears to be all there is to watch for.
As for insurance, it's frankly ridiculous it's group 16, meant to be fair shit on fuel and not cheap to tax either. For some reason though my mates 50 odd year old dad really fancies it!

Yeah they're a 1.8, about 140bhp i think and according parkers, group 16. I must admit it's growing on me a bit, lotus chassis, mistsubishi reliability. It's just the proton badge on the front and the fact it's nailed together in a jungle clearing by someone who rides to work on an ox that would stop me buying one myself
