Default cossie rear diff question

there was a post up the other day that had a link to another site with all the diff options on sierras and mk3 granadas,i cant remember what one it was to try and find it,what i want to know is can i swap the drive shaft cups from an xr4x4 diff onto a 2wd diff so i can use the 2wd diff in the 4x4 beam with the 4wd rear shafts, also what do i need to do to the diff/beam to fit the 2wd diff

I dont knwo about mk3 granadas but I do know that you cannot use a 2wd diff with 4x4 shafts.

To use a 2wd diff in a 4x4 beam you need to chop off a mounting lug on the beam and re-weld it 1/2 inch over to accomodate the bigger width of the diff (7 inch versus 7 1/2). You also need to use 2wd shafts, these fit fine into the hubs and arms etc.... so basically to put a 2wd diff into a 4x4 beam you need diff and shafts & a grinder/weld set.

Cheers

yes ,you can change the 2wd cups for the 4x4 ones,
just remove the back cover, and release the c clips holding them in.

Appologies for my incorrect info, never knew you could put the 4x4 output flanges onto the 2wd diff....always learning new tricks
