All depends Maria, you would need someone to look at it to know, usually isnt hard but sometimes more awkward than others and more wrecking to get the cable out. All depends, Im in Ireland so no use to you. Sure someone will help.

i'll put piccies of a piece of string up shall i
honestly though if someone is going to do you a good price they need to have a look where is the meter/fuse board in the house and where is the garage i.e is it at the bottom of the garden next to the house down the street

The garage is slap bang next to the house
Just to the very left of this picture is the door access from the garden
And the nearest room to the garage is the kitchen!
There are lights in the garage, but i couldnt find a switch for them

depends on what she wants and what cable has been laid into the ground to put power to the light i can quite imagine if someone had put power into it with a light they would of asked for a socket to be put in aswell

is there a switch in the kitchen that you haven't found out what it does yet (clue)
that is if the garage is empty and it's not hiding behind something.
also where is the meter is it under the stairs or at the front of the house i'm guesisn it's a semi detached house i can't see a white box outside with your meter in, so must be inside.

looks like ya meter box is to the front (cant tell if its gas or leccy tho) if it is its a doddle to get power to the garage

Ah i thought it looked fairly new, was gonna suggest contacting them and asking who the electrical contractor was with there being lights in there....see what the crack was like!
Looks a nice house anyways Low maintainence rear garden...

didnt you get pally with any area reps that go into branches
failing that ask your neighbours anyone they had to do work and are happy with will have a grounding on how the houses on your estate are built/wired and will have less surprises and probly cheaper in that way, just ask more than one tho
also a neighbour may know how to switch ya garage light on

Hmm! strange only other thing i can think of is an outside switch next to the door to the garage somewhere, it looks quite bushy around the garage, any chance it's hidden behind something there.
just checking you did check that every switch actually did something in the kitchen, being a new house the wiring shouldn't be messed about with so it would be very unlikely that you'd have a switch that doesn't do anything, if there is you could have a breaker turned off at the fuse board that takes power the garage lights, or the bulbs have gone and thats why they seem not too work, thats all i can think of with your garage light problem atm.
i'd get someone off here that seems nice and friendly to come round and give you a quote, and work from there.

I agree. Completely slab the rear, knock down any walls and dig up any plants at the front, hire a digger, dig up the lawn and tarmac the front to make the drive more than twice the size.
Bish bash bosh, job done, no more gardening ever.

Dont you remember Bertha Maria?
Bertha, lovely Bertha,
Sometimes I think you're a dream!
And when we work out what you have to do,
You can always churn the goods out,
Always churn the goods out,
We can depend upon you!
