advice on 2wd big sump/baffle conversion.
as there lots of different ideas on how to do this i'm now confused on what to do.
so what a have been thinking is.
buy a 2wd sump.
have this done, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cosworth-2wd-b...d=p3286.c0.m14
then fit one of those touring car spares baffles.
whats your ideas? this way i could do all that for £250
but the oil pick will still be standard does this matter?
cheers

i have no idea really... maybe not then. ive never removed a sump before, am i right in thinking, that in your sump picture, the square inside the baffle is where the oil pick up sits? is the square to stop the oil moving away from the pick up?
cheers

I got a big wing sump and the baffles TouringCar sell and see it as a good move.
Common sense says to me that a high performance engine with only 3.5-4 litres of oil in it isn't great. I feel much more at ease having 6 litres in there.
The oil is factor in the cooling capacity.

Yeah, the baffle stops oil starvation in cornering. Extra oil is probably overkill unless you feel you need it for some reason?
Are you doing it yourself? Getting the sump off with the engine in is a bit of a pain.

i'm collectingg parts at the mo then in the winter i'm going to pull the engine out and do a hydro clutch conversion, and sort the sump out.
so do we think the big sump is just for extra cooling? charlie what oil set up do you have? and what temps do you see?
cheers

its all down to oil temps..if you race hard the extra capacity helps, but you must run a cooler if you choose to run std capacity...its a direct fit so no messing..good tip tho is to fit with the engine sitting the right way up not upside down as the baffles get trapped ..danny

just had a thought my engine suffers from piston slap prity bad but goes when warm, with a big sump on short journeys do they warm up properly? how much longer does it take to warm up the extra oil?
