Been there and got the t-shirt quite a few years ago now. The 'problem' you have is the more difficult you make it for them, the more determined they will be. The word gets round and it will become a challenge for them. But it can work out good fun for either side really, although a bit of hassle.
It started to become a bit predictable for us, and was happening every month or so. They even struggled to get past the first stage, let alone, stage 2, 3, 4, 5 and got no where near bully's special prize waiting at the finish line for them.
Best thing to do here, is to leave the window as it is, and leave the garage door unlocked. Use a couple of silent alarms and have your weapon of choice ready and waiting. I have chased some on many occassions and caught one once, and could have got a few more on a couple of occassions but its often better and easier to see them laying bricks as you chase them.

What happens when they turn around and clout you with the tools they were using to break into your house/garage? or if your faced by 2 or more big guys, you have got no chance then, only hope you'd have is if they were a pack of wimps and decide to run.

Oh for sure mate, but 99.9% of the time these sort of people ARE wimps. Its always a tricky one if theres a few of them. But the slightest sound and you can almost gaurentee that they'd be off like whippets.

i know what this is like as i only live about 1/2 a mile from warren, he lives right near the job centre which doesnt help as theres loads of scum hanging around there, ill have to pop up on night when you do the wire and give you a hand, im 6ft3 so maybe a big easier to reach putting it on

But what is the point of them coming back like that?? thats shit burglary skills as the more they come back the harder it will be and more likely they will get hurt!! Or is it just CHAV's who are outraged at me "disrespektin" thier percieved "right" to break in where they want by making things harder for them??
Also im concerned how far they will go next. Whats to stop them coming back with heavy cutting gear and hacking off the garage door or ramming a car into the door just to rip the door off??? or are they not THAT bothered about it???
Cozzfather, im not "connected" in stoke, not having grown up here, so i would unlikely recognise a face and need to catch them at it really or trap them/maim them in the process of them breaking in.
Im seriously thinking of getting some bottles, smashing them and sprinkling the glass ALL over the wall to slice them up a bit.

Ive removed the temporary board i had over the window and gone mad with good old 2 by 4 and flooring planks i had going spare!!
Just got the top to finish off now:
Its nailed into the frame as well as the metal window bars now bracing the wood and metal straps from the wood to the brick work so they cant rip out the window frame to get in!!!
Hopefully that will remove the window as a viable entry point for most criminal scum!!

I would stick to what you have, sharp spikes on the fence. BUT, I would reglass the window, then have a board like you have but wide than the window fitted from inside, then have some bars on the inside of that inside the garage.
That way they can't see them, they have to get over the fence, then smash the window, then when they try to smash the board in, the bars are holding it.
They can't get in, and cant really get to see in.
The idea is they will have to make a tight racket and get know where.

Matt i think you misunderstood. It has metal bars on the inside of the wood for that purpose as well as metal strapping from the wood to the brickwork so they can smash out the whole window frame and still not be able to get through the wood as its secured by metal to the brickwork.

u should dig a hole by the side of the fence they get over and then cover it so nxt time they fall in and it takes them longer to escape so in that time uve had enuff time to get down stairs thats if ur in of course

Id lay some smashed glass at the bottom of the fence, so that if they clamber over your barbed wire etc, they will get injured on the glass aswell.

Its not financially viable at present!! Id loose money selling the house and probably end up having to sell car to cover the resultant debts settling the mortgage and its the car im trying to protect mostly so that wont work.
I am seriously considering renting current house out and renting a property for myself somewhere nicer but I'm about to become a student which has all sorts of nasty implications for me renting as a tenant. ie i wont be able to rent a decent house as being a student you are marginalised probably worse than being a "DSS" tenant. Students have a bad rep unfortunately.
Plus a property with a garage or being able to rent a secure garage is essential.
The way it works out id need to be working 20 hour week part time job as well as studying for a combined honours degree and carrying out my reserve service (will be an evening a week) just to break even if i rent a place.
Financially it makes sense to stay here until I finish the degree. Its not ideal but i cant see any other choice at present.

forgot to say,when some chav bastards tried to steal my cabby and failed they set it on fire inside my old lock up,car,garage and everything inside it was gutted so beware of pissing them off as barbed wire might be a great invention but it cant put out fires!

why not make a wood border around the the outskirts of the path, and cover it with marbles and broken glass.
that way, when some twat jumps the fence they land on the marbles, loose footing and end up arse over tit in a pile of broken glass...
of course that would be a bit of a cunt if its your only access to the garage... but at least you know its there.
or dig a trench, and fill it with sharpened sticks coverd in shit, like the punji sticks they used in vietnam
of course that means digging a bit hole... and not forgetting its there
reinforcing the garage door with an anti ram post is also a good idea, but put it on the inside as of course its less obvious. can get them for about Ł100

a few years ago my brother had a problem with a group of lads trying door handles (some folk still dont lock em)and nicking stuff from cars on their way home from the pub,he saw them one night in the distance trying each and every one,so he got the stuff they make fiery jack (like vics vapour rub only stronger) from and smeared under his passenger door handle(using a rubber glove),then went for a piss only he ended up somehow with some on his hand and apparentley his little fella stung like a bastard
so can only imagine what the scrotes night was like after that

I dont have a fence but a brickwall and gate:
I will do the stanley blades on the gate but i dont think i can do that to the brickwork. loose glass on top of brickwork is the trick i think with fixed spikes under glass.
Ive got 3 locks and 2 alarm sensors on garage door already.

Actually i think its perfectly reasonable. Manslaughter not murder. Im not setting out to kill them but if it happens then no loss to society.
You make arson sound serious. Arson isnt serious, its a very useful technique. doesnt have to be used to kill either, property destruction by fire is so much more extensive than by other means and convieniently removes most DNA evidence as long as you use commonly available accelerants for the fire to avoid tracing of the accelerant back to yourself.
Also it would very easily get the Chav family out of my nieghbourhood as the house would be uninhabitable.
Remember half these Chav cunts would do worse to you if they had the balls and wernt cowards. Smacked up junkies wouldnt hesistate once they are desperate.
You have to be prepared to match and exceed thier level of violence if you want to win.
