Bet thats going to need some serious work replacing all the fuel lines etc.
They liked catching fire when new, parking it for 20 years is unlikely to have improved things

Nice car though but is it not just an 1800?

Id be wanting an evo for that money!

I absoulutely agree, but what's needed to make it into the 2.1? Surely if it was bored/stroked a low mileage engine to use to convert would be a good starting point.

No mate, its not quite that simple!
Plus it still wouldnt be an evolution, much like I wouldnt pay 20K for a base model low mileage ford sierra and then spend money attempting to convert it into an rs500, it still wouldnt be one, just like my own one isnt, so sod paying that sort of money for the base car just to bastardise it, it would be worth LESS if you did that I reckon!

I'm not suggesting trying to make a non-evo into an evo replica, more interested in the difference between the cooking spec 1.8 and the evo's 2.1. Just didn't word it well.

Loads mate, even the bodywork got hacked about (literally) when they made the evo.

Steveboyslim on here is the man to ask though not me, he will tell you chapter and verse every single difference right down to if they run the same poundage valve springs or not!

as chip is well aware but didnt share with you,

the evo engine is a completely different engine

read up about it, its development is very interesting if you can find out about it

the engine is designed around the original rs200 engine, the idea was to keep it looking as close to the orignal as possible

the engine is a full 2inches longer just to start

the evo engine is just awsome, alot of thought went into that one, and i can see how they get bug power from them reasonably easily, the head design (apart from being a pain in the arse to do tappet shims loll) is brill

Yes its because the engine is physically bigger they had to hack the bodywork about to fit it.

"They are shockingly made cars thrown together for motorsport, there is nothing nice about them and they drive like a sack of shit in standard form."
(Quote from SteveBoySlim, and thats him being nice cause he owns one, lol)

That car was offered for sale in 1991 as a unregistered car , at the old Fast Lane garage around the Standish area , Ron hodgson had a place just up the road from there in those days , i went to look with a view to buy price was Ł35000 kicked myself in recent years for not doing so ,opted for a new saph 4x4 cos more practical company and family car my grandad said ,lol. when it was registered it made a brief reappearance then went away for many years only to resurface about 3 years ago for Ł100000 , this did not sell and after a while it was dropped to Ł89000 , back up to Ł110000 now , i wish him luck it's a awesome car ,went to see it a couple of years ago when it resurfaced .

Far too much for that car, i'd want an EVO in the same condition for that price!

Car is immaculate though, remember seeing it in the showroom when the garage was in Standish above the service station!

If he gets a sale I would imagine it would just be purely to someone to who 100K is pocket money and they particuarly want a mint rs200 for their collection
