It wasn't the ele, it was my mates 3 door - he melted a piston. He heard it knocking but didn't stop - he knew he was going to blow it before he even went on track!

Believe me, the standard of work in my car is FAR FAR higher than MOST cars I see on a day-to-day basis worked on by big-name tuners. The difference between a PROPER DIY'd car and a cheque-book tuned one is the fact that you can put a SERIOUS amount of time into fabbing bits yourself, far beyond what anyone could pay someone to do.

I really have taken offence to that remark.

agreed

what a load of fucking shit.
so people who own on average 15 -25 year old hard driven fords are not allowed to work on them!?
the whole world of modifing cars is based on people working on cars THEMSELVES!

Saw a Series 1 broken down on the sliproad leading up, hopefully he got it sorted as there was an AA truck there with him.

Have to agree the DIY comment was pretty stupid, althou i expected the gfs mk4 cabby to break down on the way due to being up till 11pm trying to get it ready it actually made it tehre and back with very little problems!! Admitedly its a weekly thingfixing it but still

i was standing right by the fence when the 3 door came off track, atleast it was just a piston.

anyone know what happened to the 09 blue rs that was on track about the same time? it came past about 15mph popping and banging with bits comming out the exhaust?????

my vr6 made the 700 mile round trip without a single hitch, touch wood!

mate it was not intended to the people like you

i probably worded it wrong, i have much respect for your car you know what you are doing and that is fine you don't blame the car for the misfortune, like i said people don't fully rewire there house without knowing what you are doing then when it goes wrong you blame it on the quality of the wire rather than saying you probably made a mistake because your are not a electrician

if people are going to do stuff there self with limited knowledge and it goes wrong then why the hell blame it on the car or the engine when most likely they have missed something very slight in the engine build or spent all there money on the build and missed out why the engine blew in the first place could be anything from fuel pump to a dodgy ECU fuelling

just pisses me off when people say unreliable when they are partly to blame you don't see them doing full engine rebuilds on the EVOS or there M3s so why do it on there cossie then blame the car
