Default Dogue De Bordeaux needing a new home

I know this is a long shot...

But... a friend of mine has this dog, Gixxer. He is a pure Dogue de bordeaux and is STUNNING!

He is 1 year old on August 14th, so still a baby really

Gix is beautiful, and is fantastic with Chantelles 2 kids... BUT she takes him away moto crossing every weekend, and he has started to get very territorial over the caravan.

A little boy approached him at the caravan, and he went to snap for him! He did just nip the skin on his arm.... now me personally think the dog was just being protective over his little home, but chantelle has now decided she doesnt want to take the risk. If a home cant be found she has taken the decision to have him put to sleep

As you can see he is a big boy... i just think with a bit of guidance he could be a fantastic dog, or suit someone on a farm or something that needs a scare off dog, but that is actually soft as shit if that makes sense?!

anyone?

Not wanting to cause shit, BUT.. having a heathly 1 year old dog put to sleep should be illegal, if there is nothing wrong with him. Horrendous and extreme route to take to training the dog! Anyway - surely if she can't find a home, can't he go to a dogs home/rescue centre?

Hes stunning! and one of the reasons she got a dogue was cos she saw how mild mannered my smelly DDB was.

I think he is just still a very nieve pub that needs a firm hand. ( not absuive, just disciplinary)

You should tell her to reconsider. You can't just give up on them. It took me three years to make mine sit, and that was by shouting rude words but he's getting there.

Imagine if you drove past the local park everytime you went on a test drive.

She sounds just a tad irresponsible if you ask me. At one year old he can be trained to do anything, he just needs the right training!

Just a suggestion, as I'd be happy to take him if only I had the space... rather than put him to sleep, can't your friend at least leave him with the Dogs Trust? They should be able to find a new home for him. Got to be a better option?

I know steve.... ive had to stop meself too....

BUT all that matters to me now is trying to find this gorgeous chappie a new loving home!

Dont get me wrong, this is really hurting her to have to do this, but she has a little girl, ( who he is FINE with ) but, after seeing him snap at this other little boy she just cant take the risk.

i can see her point too, if a dog nipped at my son, i wouldn't care if it was a mates, mike tysons or even the queens, i'd break it's neck on the spot. no questions asked, no second chances.

Harsh maybe, but true.
