Wish him luck for me
This is what some fucking 17 year old did last nite to my mate
A Man is critically ill in hospital following a hit-and-run by a stolen car.
Police believe the car was taken from Hartlepool and driven into neighbouring Stockton where a pedestrian was hit as he crossed a road.
The car fled the scene and was driven back to Hartlepool where attempts were made to set it on fire.
The man in his 20s, was rushed to the University Hospital of North Tees and is receiving treatment for broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and lung and liver damage.
He was undergoing surgery this morning and his condition is described as critical.
A 17-year-old male from Hartlepool is now being questioned by police in connection with the incident.
Inspector Anne-Marie Salwey said it appeared the car, a silver Toyota, was taken from the Stranton area of town sometime last night.
She added that it was thought the vehicle was driven to Stockton, where it was involved in the "near-fatal" collision on Cowshill Green around midnight.
Insp Salwey said the vehicle was found dumped near Hartlepool Fire Station, close to Burn Road.
A youth is in custody and helping police with their inquiries, following his arrest around 5.30am today.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to call Hartlepool Police on (01642) 302126 or Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555 111
