EscortWRC really dont like trucks does he
to say they dont corner is wrong as they do, yes they are a truck and you have to concider that but it far from means you can't enjoy twisty roads not that EscortWRC would know what a real road looks like living far away in seatle anyone who's been santa pod will know what the lanes are like around where i live and the TRUCK loves it
Tops speed is 145mph easy and 150mph but has to creap round there, thats in stock form

Actually I don't mind trucks at all...they make great tow rigs. They are just so common over here that the've been old news for a long time.
My cornering comparison was versus a car of the same price range, like an Evo MR
Not many places around here where you can 'test' up to 150, so not much point to having a top speed in the 'completely silly' range.

yes but here in the uk they are VERY rare trucks and you can do 150 of course this is on private roads, for what i want there perfect and but for some no good, they look sound and go awsome thats what i like the only vehicle to compare it to is the SRT 10 but there about 10k more for barely improved performance, and alot of extra wieght.
If i wanted to rally on back roads I'd go evo route but there 2 totally different vehicle's and the only thing in common is the price range and the fact they both do what they were built for.

On a gentle run he might be lucky and see 22-24 mpg, driving it hard he will only get 6 mpg out of it. It cost him Ł82 to fill it from empty to full and he can get around 350 miles from a full tank of fuel.
Running cost in fuel alone is a killer imo.

When I go to the local Dodge dealer to get the new ball joints (recall) for the Durango (tow rig for the rally car) I'll take a few pix of the Viper Truck that they have there and a close up of the window sticker.
They have one of those 'second sticker' deals on it. I call them the 'do I look stupid' sticker....and the salesmen get really pissed off when they hear me say that, its hilarious.

The thing is with us "Yanks" we can, and do see these all the time so were not so quick to praise them. Put the Lightning/SR10/Escort or 3dr cossie in front of me and without a doubt would I take the cossie!! Why because they are rare, sound awesome and ARE awesome cars but NOT available here so you see, we have roll reverseal. Take the trucks, I'll have the cossies

I'm with them... I could trade my SVT Focus for a Lighting tomorrow (dealer down the street has a few trade ins) but would rather have a Cossie anyday.
I've seen Lightings run in the high 9 second range and the only sound you hear is the whine of the supercharger, lovely.

It still wouldn't put me off though as im only getting about 110 - 120 miles to a Ł33 tank in the evo!!

Test drove one a few weeks ago, after a couple of years hankering after one it made me realise that i have to have one next year.
Got all the gen on them on my PC, common problems, how to derestrict it, what fuel/oil/fluids to use etc etc all from the NLOC.
Top speed is 147mph but by raising the redline from 5750rpm it'll push 180mph with a few minor mods.
Fuel is obviously the sore point but driven sensibly then it'll do 20odd mpg or for a really long journey you can slip off the S/C belt. Even the yanks do this to save fuel they think they have it bad for gas prices.
If you can get one from a small garage/private sale then do so, usually free of VAT and the specialist dealers (Bauer Millet/ACI) charge well over the odds for them.
Did a search on Autotrader and found a 2004 model freshly imported for Ł23k, Bauer Millet want Ł30k + Vat
BTW the Lightning has now been pulled and no replacement is on the cards for a good 3 years
This is my fav truck.
699bhp and 915lb/ft
1/4 mile in 10.34 without nos

Cant remember off the top of my head, the guy is called Superfords and uses NLOC.net and F150online
Thats Sonic Blue, my fav along with Red, Mods are easy as you said. A Kenne Bell supercharger will boost power from 380 to a shade under 500bhp for as little as Ł3000 add pulleys, chip and larger inlets and you'd be on the way to 600bhp

I run a Lightning. Bought new in California in 2001, brought it back to the UK. I've consistently got 12 miles to the US gallon, around 15mpg a UK gallon.
On the price - you could pick one up new in the US for Ł17k, that's for 380bhp, 5.2 0-60 that is straightforward to modify into supercar territory. A UK importer will charge probably double that - you could get one on the road for about Ł27k as a personal import. Or if you're a returning resident like me, you can do it for Ł20k
TIFF-C20WTH and MWF - you're referring to the "2005 Lightning" that has been shelved - see http://www.f150online.com/forums/sho...hreadid=172401 - bummer...
cheers

In the regular petrol stations around Newmarket, Toronto the super kick ass premium was only something like 94ron !
the usual unleaded was in the mid 80's.... maybe 84 If Im right.
here... if 95ron is 81p and 98ron is 91p... 3ron = 10p more... then 84ron = about 36p cheaper.
still no excuse for rippin us to fuck tho !
