Default Hybrid turbo...

Allrite chaps,
Just wondering if a true Garret ball bearing'd T4 turbo would provide
enuff air for 500hp? or provide me with 2+Bar boost press.without exploding.
The cold side's the normal T4 .70 but the turbine housing's an
unusual .57 trim.
Thoughts pleeze

it will make 2 bar; and "should" make 500hp, but are you sure that exhaust housing is correct

what's the rest of the spec of the engine?

Hi mate,
Sorry for not replying as i lost my post...
Well,it's not Cosworth,it's my 2.0 Vw 16 valve engine running Cosworth management.
Basicly it's very similer to a 2.0 Cosworth mill, the turbo is a one off made by TFMS that i got off eBay,ball bearing converted Garret T4 with GT internals.
My engines got mild head work done, modded cams, charge cooled, forged pistons etc.
I'm worried that sooner or later the turbo is gonna surge.

A proper roller bearing coverted T4 will be happy at 500hp and 2+ bar.

No doubt the turbo will surge, left to its own device but you can always try to dial it out on cam timing and/or mapping. Or if youve got a decent boost controller it shouldn't be a problem.

Sounds like an interesting conversion.
