Default Another fish keepers question

Am just after people thoughts on external filters. Recently ive just got a 100 liter tank to put my fish in that we've had for over a year now (2 gold fish kinda things and 1 alge eater).

ive always had a tiny internal foam type filter and always been fine. i now have another internal one (quite large foam) and also got a external eheim 2224. have set up the eheim and got it all running just doesnt make any kind of real current. I noticed after one nite the gravel was scatterd with fish poo yet with the larger internal one there was next to none as that made a good current and i imagine sucked all the crap in. which leads me to my next issue, i just cant see how the small little tube end can suk in all the crap from the tank on the external one.

so lets see your external set ups or just comments on how you've set up and what you find works and doesnt.

cheers Ric.

heres my RENA set up,

i have two large rena externals, which draw from the right side through smart heaters, and return on the left,

all the lighting etc is either on timer, or on a remote control, so i can switch the air curtain, and aux lighting on via a remote control.

the tank is visable from both sides, when our house was built i spec`d the the build to include a hatch between the kitchen and lounge for the tank to sit in.

no, you cant see any pipe work or cables its all hidden,

the air curtain is the full length of the tank, but yes like a bendy air stone really.
