Friends in Car Accident... UPDATE 08/08 :(
Couple of friends were involved in an accident in the early hours of Saturday morning... the surreal thing was, I was sitting in Accident and Emergency for a totally un-related reason with my lass when both of them were brought in. Never realised who it was, phone was off obviously being in Hospital, only got the texts the next day when I turned the phone back on.
Puts things in perspective when something like this happens. They're both in a bad way just now, got fingers crossed for them at the moment.

Not good Grant,
The worse one tho imho was the bloke near Aberdeen who totally minced the Audi A3 into the tree............killed him.!! ( it's on the related articles link )
Happens all too often in Scotland unfortunately. I read the ''home'' news every day, and there's hardly a day without one.................
Shame

Yea, it was a tidy EK9 Type R... no other cars/people were involved, hard to know what exactly happened just now but I do know that the car flipped and at some point the passenger was thrown from the car and found 30ft away at the edge of a stream, he's in a very serious condition at the moment.
Brian, I totally agree that the fatal crash further north was much worse.. must have been going at a fair rate to reduce an Audi A3 to that state.
Thankyou for the comments and wishes.

Update on this since I know a few folk on here will be interested in knowing:
The driver has now come home and is slowly recovering, mainly broken bones suffered but should be alright.
The passenger died of his injuries in hospital this morning.
I have not long found out and to be honest I feel absolutely gutted, Don was only 22yrs old and was a brilliant lad.. loved everything to do with cars, good mechanic, wouldn't think twice to help anybody out, always smiling and cheery.
Rest in peace buddy, you were one of the genuine good guys.

Grant

Thanks for the comments, it means a lot.
Its weird, I'm really not normally the kind of guy that gets emotional or lets stuff bother me, no matter how serious the situation. But this is the first time I've lost a good friend and I ended up driving up to Arbroath late last night and standing in the darkness, on my own down the sea front just thinking and looking out on the water for nearly 3 hours. Was surreal really, and I dont know why I'm sharing this with you all either but I suppose it helps to talk things through so you dont bottle it all up.

very sorry to hear about the accident and losing one of your mates grant, never a good thing when you hear about accidents like that then finding out later on its your mates involved.
we passed a mates civic that was crashed on the Auchtertool road a couple years ago, pitch black and couldnt see anything but flashing lights, thought thats weird looks like ally's car but he's in cowdenbeath the now we just passed him 10 minutes ago.... never knew he was going to kirkcaldy and not his mates sisters house as he said, slid on some leaves on the road and went head on into a tree. didnt find out til the next morning until i picked my mobile up either.
sympathy goes out to all family and friends of both involved.
