Default New Laptop... Best Spec For Cheapest Price?

I know one of these goes up a week, but what is the best laptop deals atm? Somehow the screen on mine got cracked today and Ive been meaning to get a new one anyway.

I will use it for:

Alot of downloading
Browsing websites
Writing to disks (Films, TV shows and music)
Playing MP3's

So I would prefer a big hard drive, a wireless fast internet connection, CD writer, etc. Wouldn't mind an HDMI port so I can connect straight to me TV.

Anyone seen any good ones about? I would like to spend under £500, but can go upto £1000 if needed.

If not, can someone explaing what the specs mean so I can go hunting?
Is it worth waiting for Windows 7 or shall I buy now and upgrade when released?

Thanks

What makes it so good mate?

Forgot to add I want a 12.1" screen if possible (Don't like big screens, its meant to be a laptop, not a TV ), but am open if a decent one comes up

If you only want a 12.1 screen there's no point having HDMI port, it will only upscale to a certain resolution anyways. You could stream media onto the PS3 if you want to watch clips in High Def.

I like that Dan Is it a good spec tho? I have no idea what the 2GB memory does, let alone the 2ghz means

I would only be playing rare things through the HDMI port as I put everything onto a memory stick and play them on both me PS3's What ever format the PS3's won't play I can play through the HDMI.
