Any dog experts out there? Puppy question!!
Bought a little Lhasa Apso puppy which I am picking up in a couple of weeks. I want to get him micro chipped but have been told that there are different types i can get? What varieties are out there and what are the differences?

ISO Conformant Full Duplex is the chip that is more widely accepted in Europe.
I would say though your VET will give you whatever you need, so don't even concern yourself with it.

We have a lhasa as well, just get pet insurance if you don't have it already, and make sure you socialise him early, as they are stubborn little shits and you won't be able to afterwards.
They are ace dogs though, the main thing they suffer from is the tear ducts block so need an op often, beware they have a surprising amount of bite power for their size, as they were originally Tibetan Temple inner guard dogs.
Try to keep him stimulated otherwise they will wreck anything they get hold of, and coat cuts are normally every 6 weeks.
Our dogs just had op and cost over £800, but tesco insurance paid.
get some more piccies up!!

ok cool cheers!!
Have done my homework on them and indeed training them early is a must!! We werent too sure on the insurance thing, what do you pay a month? We was going to put £xx money away each month rather than pay insurance and if he needs any ops then we'll take it out of that?

Very similair to the Shih-Tzu we have, and I agree with Tabetha. When they bite, it hurts... A lot! They are very stubborn and I am in the process of training mine at aged 5 so it can be done, but I agree they are stubborn as it's not been easy so do it ASAP. Consistancy is the key.
They do have a million good points though, which is why mine hasn't been strangled.

We pay £11.65p a month by DD, covers anything apart from routine stuff.
They like to bury stuff but are brill with kids, ours goes out every so often into the garden, then comes back in with a totally black face front paws etc, then we have the fun or trying to catch him to give him a bath, which he hates, same as when he has a dirty bum.
His fave trick in the garden is to run around in ever tightening circles around you, then when you're not looking he jumps up and nips your arse!!, F**K me it hurts, they also rip the post to bits.
They are OVERLY sensitive to diet though, beware CHOCLATE is POISONOUS to dogs, so proper treats only, ours is on special diet as he has just had a stone removed the size of a large marbel, so he's on special dry food now all the time.
If they don't want walkies leave them until they do otherwise you end up dragging them or carrying.
As said shitz zu is basically same dog, only lhasa a bit larger with slightly different face/nose.
Me other half just seen the piccies and went all gooey, and asked where are some more!!

Ah cool thanks for the info mate, insruance is cheaper than i thought so may go for that. Have heard they are quite snobby (ie - they wont stand by the door when they want a pee, they'll expect you open it for them and invite them to go?!!!!!!!!!!). The breeder also mentioned the food thing so good to hear the same from yourself.
Tell ya missus i'll upload some more pics tonight, only got a few of him chewing a shoe!! Dont pick him up until the 14th!!!!

You do have to "learn" thier ways, usually they just sit out of the room looking in at you if they want outside, but they can be taught to bark easy when they want the door open, as they'll do anything for treats, just beware of other dogs as these lhasa's rarely back down, unless you tell them to, take the early lead with the dog so he sees you as the alpha male, otherwise it will be trouble ahead for you.
They are exceptionally affectionate dogs though, me gf has had a few before, be careful of anyone coming to the door, if you can teach the dog to not assume it's an invader all the better as they are fierecly territorial, maybe ask the postie etc to feed him a little treat that you give to the postie, otherwise your letters get shredded when they come through the door, the amount of door mats we have replaced is amazing, don't bother having one now, had this big heavy coconut bristle one, that lasted well, 6 weeks, before he totally destroyed it, rubber ones are pointless.
