p.s i love your red wrc looking escort cossie with the strips on it . i must get a good look around it at ford fair..is it a grp a shell or a full wrc , or is it a std shell turned into a track car..

Fair enough mate, if you have enough confidence in the person you are taking it to.

Agree, mines for sale at the right price & around half what this will cost.

So not true, if i had built a Topspeed engine it would produce as much Power as possible, not run standard valves, 26mm ports & near standard exhaust cam. I need it like that to maintain its driveability. 900bhp is obtainable if Power is all i require. If ive done 20 topspeed runs thats about 30 miles overall of the 43k miles ive covered, thats .07% of its time as a Topspeed car, arnt statistics wonderfull.

More fool you if that's the case and you have built something under spec!!!

Rod wants to hold the record, so the correct spec is "faster than anyone else", if he can manage that and still do 40K road miles in it, then thats the ideal spec IMHO.

I guess if this new car beats what his car can do now, he'll have to think about if the road driveability is worth sacrificing for the record or not, but until he has a serious challenger he isnt in a position where he needs to make that choice surely?

isn't it a case of rod's spec for a fast road car working out right for the top speed stuff rather than rod's spec for the top speed car being luckily user freindly?

or is it a bit of both?

i'd like to see lots of cars "going for the record" but as rod has previously stated, it's not enough to turn up to a strip and "give it beans" bcause you've got so many other forgotten costs to budget for, not the least being the health and safety side of things like new tyres and the like

That was certainly the case initially from what I remember Rod saying, he only went along to watch the TOTB qualifying and Mike Rainbird nagged him into trying to run his road car so he gave it a go.

or is it a bit of both?
Now it is without a doubt.

I've driven my S2 at 150mph and my A4 at 140mph+ and it needs concentration. Christ only knows what driving at 200mph in a Sierra feels like but I bet it needs BIG bollocks to attempt

Got to agree with that as my 3dr seems pretty stable at 150-160ish, would like the power to have a go at 200.

The funnist thing is that everyone including me thought your car was a piece of shite before TOTB1! - soon proved us all wrong!lol My own superbly put together car could barley make it a few feet without the fuel swirl pot running out of fuel and the car cutting out!lol

You may be an arrogant annoying short little old fooker but fair play to ya and I bet Mark still laughs everytime he think of what Harvey tried to do to his reputation/business with all the bullshit he tried to spread round about him!lol

Thanks Dan that counts comming from you , im afraid you suffered because of what Harvey was saying, I personally was very wary of you & said things in haste & im sorry for that, perhaps its time to bury the hatchet, I hope so.

My Spec is always different from what a normal guy wants Martin, been around at this lark for longer than you guys. My old 500 engine was slated because it failed to make the Power of Brucies 550 car but it was designed to make huge Torque & was basically a 450bhp engine pushed hard at 42psi giving back then a massive 492ft/lb. Never actually had 500 on 98ron about 486 i believe, but it was able to outrun those other rwd boys with their 500+ monsters & get the RWD Topspeed record pre Nitrous days, you always treat me as a fool Martin, big error.
My new engine is much the same. The temptation to open up the ports match up the cams & go for 900 was great but it would have been shite.

Told you before Rod, never really seen any proper/serious problem between us...so as far as I am concerned there is no hatchet to bury in the first place....!lol
