Default mobile broadband question

My Step-Dad is looking to get a laptop with Mobile Broadband........

Is a 3GB tariff good.....ie, will that be enough as all he will be doing is browsing the net for a few hours each week..........

Anyone have any good deals they are on???

3gig out to be fine. I have a vodaphone 3gig contract and very rarely go above 2gb.

3 are doing good deals, but the service is not so good at peak times when everyone else is using theirs. 5-11pm it's pretty slow no matter how good your signal is.

Vodaphone are good, but the coverage is pretty lame. O2 are doing it now, maybe see what kind of speeds they're offering as they have excellent uk coverage and good bandwidth!

Now looking at this a bit more, and am going to opt for T-Mobile on PAYG

Give you a Day, Week or Month payment. Modem is about £20 and top-ups start at 2quid for a day.

ive got a tmobile broadband dongle and its shit m8,even if i can manage to get full3g signal,(have to go upstairs).its slow, the web n walk manager is rubbish, the net goes of but it still says your connected, and noway do u download at the speeds it says it does, gotta pay 40 a month for the next year as mine came with a laptop and had to pay for 2 years.
im glad ive got a wireless card now i just use that and my neighbours internet as he says its cool, wish id never got the tmobile its a waste of time imo.

Do not go with 3 that have bad signal, they will still charge you knowing there are coverage problems.

T-Mobile I borrowed from brother is fine. Not as if I want to download with it, just web and email access which worked fine in these here parts.

only really worth tit over regular broadband if youre genuinely gonne use it traveling a lot. its significantly slower and less reliable also depends heavily on coverage in your area

Work gave me a Vodafone 3g card and it isn't great. Would one of these broadband thingies be better or just the same?

I have a T-Mobile dongle and it's great for visiting clients at their shops etc should I need to show them something online.

They are impressed I come well prepared. I even bring a mother fucking pen.
