Default flat screen on the wall?

if so, where did oyu put the cables to sotp them being dangled?

i've got teh chimney coming out in the next week or so so i just wanted to see where peeps have put the wires

i've got 13 inputs to run, 3 hdmi's, 2 scarts, the computer plus sound, s-video plus the av lines and the 2 ariel inputs plus the 2 outputs to other sources amongst them so it's a LOT of cables, i've just counted 12 not inlcuded in the power cable so it's going to be a lot of channeling to remove it all

what i was thinking of was to bury some pipework in the wall before the plaster coat but i've only got about half an inch to play with max, not really deep enough to bury cables, and if i take the bricks out i might get through to the neighbours hose on the other side i do get on with them on that side but they've just redecorated so i don't want to take the risk

i built a false stud wall in front of the main wall so the cables could be run behind and the skybox etc recessed into the wall. not for me though, for a mate. fine if your rooms big enough.

chase the wall out. you can hire one from any good tool hire shop.
chase the wall out, then then put some cable duct in, then skim over it.
job done!

i've just got some trunking along the side of my chimney breast which hides everything and is painted the same colour so you can't see it all, job done and it's easy to add more cables if you get a new pc/sky box/xbox whatever

Got a wall mount where the cables fit inside. Put the plugs half way up the wall so you can't see them too. Will get a pic up tonight

how do the professionals do it then?
the wall will need skimming and stuff ebcause the chimney's coming ot, so any mess will be messy and need sorting in any case

i just want to kno what to do, or what to buy, before the builders come to do the work

any likns ot places that deal with the channeling or is it going to be a case of chasing out the walls into the brick to enable the wires to be run?

and how wide will they need ot be? and what if they don't fit? etc?

you can either stud the wall out as suggested and then this gives you the option of also sinking in the tv so it s totally flush with the wall and looks mile s better than just bolting to a flat wall this is what we normally do if the room s big enough , and you could put as many wires in as poss and have no worry s over space , or just cut a 2inch wide and deep channel down from centre of tv then accross to where your equip is going then fit something like this
http://www.discount-electrical.co.uk...50mm-3m-length

put your cables in then fit the lid and skim over , but if you ve only got half inch then you could try this if you can squeeze it in

Do you really need all 13 inputs? As suggested above, I would recommend using your AV receiver as the main input/switching device - lots of TV's wont send 5.1 back out to the surround amp/receiver anyway....

If you are fairly certain of the inputs you will end up using, get some wall plates for each end and do as above to hide the cable. If not, get some decent size trunking/conduit, bury a few lengths in the wall and trim the ends with some blanking plates with a big hole in - jobs a goodun.

I used to do this shit day after day, the best thing you could have done was left a good sized inset load of chimney and mounted the screen in that...

Never mind.

For asthetics sake id batton the wall and then board it up run the cables behind it skim it and decorate.

I'd of loved a shot at yours before you demolished it dojj coulda of made a good project.
