Default 2wd to 4wd engine loom

does anyone know what the extra wire is for where the engine loom joins the car loom on a 4wd l8 loom?
my 2wd engine loom has 5 wires and the 4wd loom has 6 wires.

ground = brown
battery = red or red/blue
ignition switch = black
fuel pump = black/red
rev counter = green
The brown/green wire is not required as it is for the fault light relay on the L1 or the air con on the L8.
