IMO the only reason the race wasnt fair is that it was a stripped out teack version vs a full trim road car. BUT that is the way the focus comes and if you meet a R26R on the road you cant bleat on about that shit if you race.
FACT is, focus is a better all round car, as its a all round car.
The renault is quicker around a track but is dedicated towards that.

The green RS was at Goodwood, fitted with the special one off goodwood exhaust system, boy did it sound sweet.

Yeah the RS is the better car if it's being used as a car, however I'd take the Renault if I wanted nothing but fun.

Was I the only one offended by the fact they destroyed that Evo? Surely a judge wouldn't order a car to be destroyed, what's that got to do with the blokes crime?

Payed for from the proceeds of crime. How do we know the BBC never payed a sum of money for it to be made out it was given to them.

IIRC the tyres subject was brought up with the 430 Ferrari, one make of tyre was quicker than the other. Bridgestone or Pirelli, one quicker around 2-3 seconds.

Thought Ford were bringing this RS back with 4 wheel drive? Shame. Might buy a salvage one in a year, expecting a few in hedges

So as it stands, the Renault is quicker. No good claiming the Focus would be as quick if it had this, and it had that, because it hasn't. All you're doing is stating what Ford could have done.

Can see your point their. The Focus Rs will be driven everwhere, wet, dry, summer and winter. The Renault had track bias tyres which just arn't suited to wet weather.

The Focus is the car for me out of the 2.

answer from fords..............we will not be building a proper rs we will be nicking a volvo engine sling it in a focus, put some tacky wing vent's made out of some crap plastic, mug everyone off and tell them we have done the impossible and got rid of torque steer with 300bhp.......we will sell shit loads ...................and guess what they where right..........

ford have made a car that is usable everyday and that will apeal to a broader range of people, renault have made a track day car BUT put the Focus on 888's I would say it would easily be as fast round that track and is still better in 90% of other situations and an all round better car

I say fair play to Renault for having the balls to build the R262 something Ford lost long ago.

Surely the Renault no longer falls in the hot hatch segment in a real respect? No back seats - how does it compare to other 2 seaters on 888s like the Lotus Exige S etc.
It seems to be a 'hot hatch' in silhouette only?

So all the RS name now is hot hatch? What a joke, seeing that Evo makes you realise why the Focus should have been 4wd, imagine the Focus trying to get grip on that surface

Why didn't they use a normal R26 as that would've been more fair only it would've been absolutely toasted by the RS. Like comparing a Ferrari F430 vs Ferrari F430 Scuderia. Two totally different animals!

The only question we should be asking really...

Can the motor be fitted to 20 year old Fords.

Why should they? People remember the proper RS name as being something special and built for rallying, etc, so it surely would go against another track orientated car unless it's not up to it, let alone one with 75bhp less and 2k lighter on the pocket.

Thumbs up

the focus is a much better car in nearly every area, apart from on the track. you pay 25 grand for a car you want to use it on a regular basis, how can you use a car with no back seats plastic windows and no music?. once you,ve finished hooning on the track what a shit drive home. the focus will hold its own on the track and what a way to drive home, with music and three mates , and i bet we all do a lot more miles on the road with our mates or women than track work just my opinion.
