Default intercooler size

does the size of an intercooler make a massive difference in performance, as space is very tight,

thanks

if intercooler size is an issue and you are forced to run a smaller core,

think carefully about your turbocharger type and size,

running small turbos ie a t34 to run large ish power will mean running high boost levels and high charge temps will follow,

if you were to run a larger turbo at a lower boost level to make the same power, the charge temp would be much much lower

thanks for your input, im actully using a supercharger and it will run quite low boost, does that change things?

thanks

yes it will make a massive difference!

tbh, you need to measure your charge temps and see if they are an issue

Why not get a custom one made up to make the most of the available space?

Until you know your airflow requirements, and how much boost/heat you will be putting into the compressed air, most of the posts here are bollox.

Generally bigger is better, but of course it only needs to be big enough for your application.

And heat generated will depend on compressor type and efficiency, and how much boost you intend to run.

You use an air to water heat exchanger to cool the charge air down, then a small radiator (in comparison to an intercooler) is used to cool the water down.

the pic below is a chargecooler setup
